It really hurts but not as much as that god awful book. It's ok, Mary, I don't like the book but I still like you. :)

What Price Paradise Sorry if this has been mentioned. The H reminded me a little of James in The Coming Home Place on a far lesser scale. Redeemable.

Yesterday's Sins I love a good kidnap and revenge book, but this was far more complex than the usual. There wasn't much about the captivity, just a few flashbacks. The story seemed like a journey of recovery for the h who was in a depressed rut for years; hair dyed black, somber clothes, not able to eat properly. Not my usual book, but it got under my skin and I expect to read it again. I'd say a redeemable H, but I think both of them should get some counseling.

Cinnamon Girl, I'm not so sure the H redeemed himself in Yesterday's Sins. I'm not sure he could, but he fell a long way short. A child is killed in a hit and run accident by the h's car (which she had left the night before and her brother gave her a ride home. The boy's family drugs and kidnaps the h and isolates her on an island so she has to face up to what she did and replace the child they lost. Then, too late, they discover the h was telling the truth, she wasn't driving the car and was not at all involved in the accident. So, the putative H's remedy is to force a marriage on her as repair. They send the at-fault cousin to prison (as they should have), but the H and his creep cousin (who did the actual drugging and got her to the island for the H to sexually abuse) don't go to jail. In fact Mr. Responsibility doesn't even man up to his own extended family about what he's done. He moved to NZ so he didn't have to admit it.

Even the h's father and brother didn't believe her at first, and when they find out, her "loving" father gives control of her money to manage to the same man that drugged her and put her where she could be sexually coerced because the creep who got her pregnant was marrying her? The father should have been in the front of the process of sending THEM to prison. Then when she finally agrees to talk to her father and brother (she'd refused previously because she felt they failed her when she needed them most--what a shock), they are in an accident and killed on their way to meet her. The shock throws her into premature labor and the baby is very fragile and not expected to live. She freaks then the henchman creep (who initially drugged her) gives her $50 K and tells her to leave, which she does for 8 years. The H didn't expect her to leave? I'm not surprised after all the trauma, on top of the delivery and hopeless prognosis. The h was probably in deep post-partum depression (I'm a little surprised she didn't have a psychotic break) and PTSD. She spends her time away obviously depressed and anorexic and all the H can do is yell at her because she abandoned her baby?

No matter how guilty he feeling, he never fails to hammer her for this. For all that he wanted to get back with her, I don't see how he even tried to see it from the h's POV, and he finished with the usual one line apology just before the HEA.

I think Reader and Kate just got themselves another shove a fork in your eye book.
