Thanks Sophie!

Thats okay then! I know that many partners of cops and other people in dangerous situations can't handle the stress and many relationships go kaput bcos of that.
So this H wasn't being a jerk, he was just honest when he said he couldn't handle it. And since H then put his life on the line for the h, both thumbs up to him!!

Talltree, I'm not Millipeed, but the H in "Fire & Ice" told the h to leave cause he couldn't handle the danger & unknowns & stress of her job (he had told her repeatedly that he wouldn't hold her back from it, but when the time came, he freaked). As Millipeed said, though, when he came back to his place and there was no sign of her, he was completely devastated. And he worked hard, literally put his life on the line, to win her back.

Millipeed, why did the H ask h to leave? Did they fight or did he want to break up?

Millipeed says:
Fire and Ice (Guardians Book 1) by Victoria Paige. The H tells the h to move out...the the h's shock. The h promises that no trace of her will be left by the time he returns to the apartment the next day. Well...the H returns and the "cleaners" did a really good job and no trace of the h is left.

H is devastated and realizes what he did and weeps for the return of h who now could care less about him

Tell Me Lies by Claudia Dain - hero goes nuts when heroine leaves him. IIRC he cannot eat, he cannot sleep and he growls at everyone until he finds her. He pursues her relentlessly even when he finds her.

Mine To Take (Mine - Romantic Suspense) (Volume 1). The H sent the h away because H felt he was keeping the h from pursuing her dreams. A good read.

i have just found this thread but hope it's still going. I just read Old Sins Long Shadows (B.D. Hawkey) OMG! Most romantic book EVER!!!! I've read many but this one I have to admit is the best. Don't want to spoil anything but........... there's a part where he believes he may lose her and what he says to her had me in tears. I'm not a crier but this one did it. No viscount, pirate, duke, warrior, cowboy, rancher, etc. is better than this simple farmer.

Not the original poster, but I'm guessing they were referring to the website "paperbackswap.com" --- the only other "PBS" that I know of is the Public Broadcasting Service (our public television station here in the US). Hope this helps. :-)
