More erotic paranormal romance, but several of Eve Langlais' books fit the bill - eg Toxic, Chance's Game, Date With Death.

Paranormal - Laurenston's early trilogy "Magnus Pack" has tough a**, potty talking heroines. Book 1 Pack Challenge. (Later books have similar women, but the Magnus ones are particularly kicka**).

I like Shelly Laurenston's Pride series better but the third Pack book is good too. They are funny books and most of the heroine's are pretty tough.

Been reading Gennita Low's Crossfire series: Protector (Crossfire) and Hunter (Crossfire series). Very kickass h's. The H's aren't pushovers either.

I love Kate Daniels and Elena from Guild Hunter series too! If you love Kate Daniels you may love these too:
Jeaniene Frost' Night Huntress series
Fever series by K. Moning
Patricia Briggs' series
Larissa Ione Demonica series
JD Rob in Death series
Chloe Neill' Chicagoland Vampires series
D.B. Reynolds' Vampire in America series (stick with Raphael&Cyn; there are 3 books about this pairing)
Darynda Jones's series (awesome new series. I think there are 3 books so far. I love h here)

Dragonkin series by GA Aiken. Very badass h's. Especially the first one. You just don't get more badass then Annwyl the Bloody.

Then you have Kresley Coles Immorals After Dark series. Not the first book so much (although that is one of my favorite books Emmaline does come into her own by the end), but many of her h's are really tough.

And of course Eve Dallas from the In Death series.

The Maiden Warrior by Mary Reed McCall. The h in the story call kick butt better then the men do. I really loved this story, it was well written and it was different from others. She is totally badass, especially in the end when she saves the H.
