Pamela Leung says:
Gentle Rogue by Johanna Lindsey - happens in the middle of the book.

[spoiler] when H finds h, he intentionally embarrasses her in front of her family and friends because he wants her family to force them into marriage. Once they are married, he is indifferent at first, but he is already deeply in love with her. Highly recommended.

No Choice But Surrender by Meagan McKinney
Innocence Undone by Kat Martin

There is also another one by Kat Martin but the title escapes me right now.

Street Game by Christine Feehan. The heroine has left the hero when we start reading the book and we see his reaction when he finds her again.

Creole Fires comes to mind. Historical, set in Louisiana, she left the H several times - he would hunt her down and bring her back every time, going as far as tying her down to his bed to keep her from leaving.

Does anyone have spoilers for Until You by Judith McNaught? Paradise is one of my favorite books by the same author but I ahave also read another one of her books that I hated.

bump! Any new suggestions? I'm looking for "arrangement" type books where the H thinks he doesn't need the h, but ends up missing her a lot more than he thought he would.

E. Puglisi says:
Dark Fires has a brooding, possessive H. He gets really angry at the h when she left him after spending the night together. Secret child ruse here. Historical.

A few Meagan McKinney books have this theme:

When Angels Fall

Fair is the Rose

No Choice But Surrender

All three are good, but Fair is the Rose is my favorite and when the h leaves the H, he gives up a great job opportunity to work for then President Ulysses S. Grant and tracks the h down to a small town where he then becomes the Sheriff of that town in order to be near her figure out why she's running from him. (She has a compelling reason, but I don't want to spoil anything)

Don't see it on here yet, but The Admiral's Penniless Bride (Harlequin Historical). Fits your request perfectly.

I second the Admiral's Penniless Bride. Good book, albeit a little slow in the beginning.

Drr.Drew says:
Great book, I loved it and here is my brief synopsis. I don't remember the details much. The h is a widow of a disgraced, dead sailor(something like that). The H is an Admiral and in need of a wife to get his nagging sisters of his back. The h and H get along well, make a deal and get married. He finds about her dead husband, gets angry and insults her - throws somethings at her. Anyways, she leaves and he goes nuts. His remorse is almost immediate, he feels ashamed for throwing something at her, he decides to take her tea and finds out she left. He goes crazy, vomits, cries and gets drunk. LOVED EVERY BIT OF IT! Highly recommended.

Of course, it's a Carla Kelly. I've never read one of hers I didn't enjoy.

The Golden Dynasty (Fantasyland Series) by Kristen Ashley.

They get off to a bad start, but they fall in love very quickly. Lahn is rough with everyone else, but adores her. When he finds out she is from another world they fight and when he leaves her locked in the room she manages to send herself home. This pisses Lahn off and he wants her back.
