Alexa says:
I'm searching for heroines who are kind, timid and shy,
the "quiet girl in the corner" who doesn't believe in herself, preferring to be in a world of her own, unobserved.
But underneath she possesses great inner strength and cares deeply for others.

Please Exclude recommendations with widows, divorcees & single parents. Thanks!

I think some of Lynda Chance's books would fit. The hero's are total through backs though. Very alpha and not pc at all.

Bump! I LOVE these kinds of books! Also, I'm with the OP in that I'm not a fan of stories with widows, divorcees and single parents...

Read The Sicilian's Marriage Arrangement (Harlequin Presents) last night and it fits your wants. She is a lonely granddaughter of rich business man. He has never had time for her so she just fades into the background. H turns up, they marry and when the realization of what their marriage was, she didn't back down from her feelings. I liked but didn't like the make-up/HEA. Thought it could have been a little more, but then again the H/h were thinking and communicating, thus solving all the misunderstanding. Not something seen in HP land that often.

Not a perfect fit, but The Unwanted Wife by Natasha Anders somewhat fits this. The h is the unloved daughter of a neglectful, emotionally abusive father and was pitchforked into a miserable marriage for her father's convenience. She finds her spine and demands a divorce. It's a very good read.

The Greek's Chosen Wife (Harlequin Presents) by Lynn Graham. One of her best books IMO.

Too Much Temptation (Zebra Contemporary Romance) by Lori Foster - Heroine is insecure because she thinks she is plump (H however doesn't think so at all). But she is totally in love with the H and like a knight in shining armour when it comes to him - she's always defending him. Loved this book.
