this is a continuation of this thread, which itself was a continuation of another on the same topic:

http://www.amazon.com/forum/romance/ref=cm_cd_tfp_ef_tft_tp?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=FxM42D5QN2YZ1D&cdThread=Tx2ZPAJ6Y2A1WIL

What's on topic? Anything but self-promotion. Report shill reviews, author tantrums, dodgy promotional behaviour, or anything else bothering you about writers.

Please don't feed the trolls.

I'm serious about the self-promotion. Just don't.

Thanks for starting the thread. While neither of us is American, I found this author commenting on the MOA regarding the school shooting particular disgusting. http://www.amazon.com/forum/meet%20our%20authors/ref=cm_cd_tfp_ef_tft_tp?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx2UYC1FC06SU8S&cdThread=Tx3QHQK4U099MKH

Yeah, absolutely. I don't know why he thinks that will sell books, but it won't win him many friends.

I have had "M" on ignore since his first round of self-promotion and crazy talk outside of MOA.

It does make for a peaceful life, I find.

Morning everyone. Angela, all I can say about that is wow. I'm continually amazed with how clueless some people are.

I would think that by now, everyone would want to put some distance between themselves and this particular BBA.

So what happened to the original thread? It's just full of deleted posts. Trolls I assume.

-- Edited to say - I see now that there's a "redux" thread. Should I repost this at that thread? Is this one officially retired? --

There's an author who deserves special recognition when it comes to Behaving Badly™

This author is known to call negative reviewers - brace yourselves - Satanists and child abusers, and when she doesn't state it outright, she insinuates it. She has also followed her negative reviewers to review sections for OTHER books, and with her flock of supporters, harasses them there, while plugging her book. Azon has deleted some of the worst of these posts, but they've left quite a few untouched.

You'll notice some common themes in her posts -- one of her earliest and most outspoken critics, for awhile, had every negative review falsely attributed to him, and the reviewers accused of being his aliases or "followers". This author apparently had a very hard time believing that her book might be met with skepticism or criticism from more than one person.

A few examples this author's handiwork - not even the best, just some I could locate quickly:

1] http://amzn.to/14t5MiC -this is actually a positive review, but she uses it as a launchpad to proactively defame negative reviewers and any critics of her book

2] http://amzn.to/11dIeII - she edited out the worst of this one, but what she left in is bad enough. **The oldest son of the protagonist weighs in, in the very next comment. (The book is sold as a "true story" and she uses real names, hence all the criticism from saner heads)

3] http://amzn.to/ZojcYE

4] http://amzn.to/11mFPMB

5] http://amzn.to/119CBfU

The author's initial post was deleted in this next review, but witness how her supporters pile on.

6] http://amzn.to/17j2jPE

Here she is with her friends, plugging her book and harassing her negative reviewers in the review sections for other books:

1] http://amzn.to/XPqdmX - her first few posts were deleted here, but a glance at the replies is very revealing.

2] http://amzn.to/17EdViW - the author's posts were here too, but again, a glance at the replies (voted down by the author's ever-present cadre) will be enlightening.

And this doesn't even scratch the surface...

Angela Perry says:
You'll probably get a quicker reply on the other thread, Karmakaze. It's more active. After reviewing your links and the information on the son's website, though, I wonder if this isn't a legal issue? The BBA crew can (and likely will) provide you with moral support here on Amazon, but it sounds like this author's predatory practices have crossed some legal lines.

Edit: Here's a thought -- have you considered contacting Matt Gephardt? He could get the issue some local scrutiny and perhaps draw the attention of the appropriate legal entities.

Thanks so much for your reply, Angela, and for suggesting Matt Gephardt. I might just send him the link to this thread. I'll also repost my original comment here in the new thread.

I'd pretty much given up on the idea of any potential legal recourse (others would benefit from that more than I would anyway) and I *was* just posting for moral support, but I welcome any and all input.
