the LAST Weekend reading thread for the year!! whee!! (I think!!)

so what are people reading this weekend? I have a hair appt which means great reading time while i'm sitting there, so hoping to get:
Matthew (Circle Eight) (Emma Lang/Beth Williamson) finished; I also have Sizzling (Buchanan Saga) (Susan Mallery) to read and if I finish those up, I grabbed the new Jacqueline Carey PNR/UF from the library - Dark Currents: Agent of Hel

On the ipod, I am trying to finish up Mansfield Park - I have about 4 hours left and seriously want to beat Mrs. Norris about the head...

After several mediocre reads I am about to start A Loyal Companion by Barbara Metzger. Hopefully I won't be disappointed.

Finished Winter Garden, CHINA TRADE (Lydia Chin and Bill Smith), and Midnight Jewels yesterday. Very different from each other, but I enjoyed them all. Still reading the enjoyable but massive Vanity Fair. I figure about 2 more weeks should do it.

Starting Annie Groves' London Belles for romance, Maggie Bishop's Murder at Blue Falls, the Horse Found the Body (Appalachian Adventure Mysteries) for a mystery and a re-read of Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South as a dtb for a book group.

I am almost done with The Sweetest Thing (A Lucky Harbor Novel)which I should finish tonight. Then Notorious Nineteen just came in at the library - it's a sickness - I've not enjoyed these in a while, but I find myself compelled to read these just the same. Also in at the library which I can't wait to start is Shelter Mountain.

I just finished Instant Attraction (The Wilders), my first Jill Shalvis book, and I wasn't "wild" about it (pun intended). The pacing wasn't great, the hero wavered between being a sweetheart and being a big tease, and the heroine put up with everything. I do like her writing, so I think I'll try another one of her books.

I just saw a good review for The Billionaire's Christmas Baby so I think I'll read that next. Get in another quick holiday book before 2013!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

What did you think of The Sweetest Thing (A Lucky Harbor Novel)? I guess I'm in the minority, but I found it just 'OK'. A bit boring. I think that Tara's story could easily have been included in the first book, Simply Irresistible (A Lucky Harbor Novel). And lol @ #19 in the Stephanie Plum series; I'm reading that one too and I agree that it is a "sickness". I see myself years down the road reading #35, where Steph ALMOST chooses between Ranger and Morelli...but not quite.

I'm almost finished with my dwindling Christmas reading pile. Just started All I Want For Christmas. Maybe one or two more holiday reads then I'm done and ready to pack Christmas away until next year!

read both The Italian's Wife (A Mediterranean Marriage) and Spanish Groom (Harlequin Presents) by lynne graham and enjoyed both of them. started Warprize (CHRONICLES OF THE WARLANDS) and i'm really enjoying it.
Zemindar is in the corner looking at me with reproach, but i'm resisting.

C'mon. It's no HP, I grant you, but Zemindar is worth finishing. Trust me.

spending the last weekend of 2012 being a bum!

so far, I have finished up Sizzling (Buchanan Saga) and Tempting both by susan mallery to finish up the books in her Buchanan series; I also finished up Matthew (Circle Eight) (Emma Lang) - I have a review copy of book 3 in the series, and since I hadn't read the previous 2, the author sent me copies - so I'm about to start book 2 in the series (Brody (The Circle Eight) and then finishing up Victoria Dahl's Donovan Brewery trilogy with Real Men Will (Hqn)

i know, i know. i've got kind of a mental block about it, though. it's like when i was reading KATHERINE. i knew that the writing was good, and that the story was a good one, i just resisted reading it. when i finally finished it i was going "why? WHY did i not read it sooner?" pressure is on, though, as i only have 2 days to finish it if i want to finish the title challenge.

i finished "warprize" (really enjoyed it. i hope that the rest of the series lives up to the promise of this book.), and "zemindar" is jumping up and down waving its hand in the air, so i guess that i'm reading that next. if i don't get distracted by Murphy's Law by lori foster or The Steerswoman's Road by rosemary kirstein or finishing Hunter's Bride by jessica wulf, that is.

Finishing up Just for Fun (Escape to New Zealand) then I need to decide whether to start a new book or try to finish some of the books languishing on my currently reading shelf

L. Burns - I also thought The Sweetest Thing (A Lucky Harbor Novel) was just ok. It was a lot of repetitive sex and very little story; would have made a good short story for an anthology. I actually had a successful reading weekend and finished all three of the books I planned to read - that never happens! Usually either I run out of time or I change my mind. Notorious Nineteen was also just ok - more of the same. Of the three I read, Shelter Mountain (A Virgin River Novel) was by far the best. Just started The Ugly Duchess - so far, so good.

Argggh. I finished London Belles. I liked it. I really did. But I didn't realize it was the start of a multi-book saga. Not really a cliff hanger ending, but plenty of unresolved relationships for the next book. Oh, well. Two more books added to my wish list, and based on the descriptions, I'm thinking there will be one or two more, since the third starts in 1941 and you can't end a WWII saga in the middle of the war.

All I can say is Annie Groves better not get hit by a bus before she finishes it.
