I've been looking for this historical forever and I could really use help. The H has grown up outside of society, doesn't know the rules on how to court a woman. Heroine is a plain jane, maybe a little plump, I can't remember, she might even have a prettier sister--hummmmm...might. The H falls in love with her pretty much instantly. Love at first sight. There are some adorable scenes between them. In one they are on a picnic and he is trying to get her attention and he starts to tug on her skirt, it's written really sweet. He is told that he has to court her and a proper thing to do is to bring flowers, so he brings her a dozen red roses. Which he doesn't know are inappropriate and she faints, which she doesn't do ever. Then she has to lie, they both have to joke that they were just playing a prank to see if he could tease her. He doesn't understand why people can't just act how they feel.
I wish I had more but this is what I remember. I've been looking for it awhile, I'm pretty sure it's in my library SOMEWHERE, but as that library is currently boxed up in a closet, my options are limited. I hope you ladies can help a girl in need.

I think the book your looking for is Wishes . I read it a long time again and I believe it has the scene about the roses.

Well now I've read Wishes several times over the years and I'm not sure. I will have to go find my copy and search for the rose scene. I remember the picnic scene very vividly. Could I be thinking of 2 separate books. Hum.....

I am pretty sure you are talking about Suzanne Enoch's The Care and Taming of a Rogue. If you're not, then they are like carbon copies. Also if you haven't read it you should, sooooo good. Hope this helped.

I'm so glad I could help. I know how frustrating it can be to be in this situation. Happy reading!
