The problem with the TBR pile is that it never goes does and new books are constantly pouring in. I struggled finishing this go-around because there are far too many good recs on these boards - and I had to go check 'em out! And get 'em - y'all know how that goes. Sometimes, I'm not so sure what's the most addictive part of my book-olism, the reading or the accumulating. I enjoy both! :)
Speaking of enjoying, I was delighted to finish up the challenge with a book from 2006, new to me and chosen because of her last name, Unger. I really liked Beautiful Lies! I usually don't like 1st person (hence, no FSoG yet) but I liked being in Ridley's head. And I really want to see NY - the city was a character in this book, and I'd like to go meet her.

Congratulations, again, CyMac, and I know what you mean about recs on these boards! I've found so many new authors since I've started visiting, and then I go on author buying sprees, and, and, and...! I go with the attitude that I'm supporting the economy, helping it to survive, and I'm doing my patriotic duty!

I'm glad you liked Unger's book. I just got it, and am looking forward to reading it, and oops, I see many authors in your list that I've not tried..oh no, Mr. Bill! Here I go again!

I discovered Lisa Unger the same way last year and really enjoyed Beautiful Lies too. The sequel (Sliver of Truth: A Novel) wasn't quite as good IMO, but it's still worth reading.

Congratulations on finishing another list! :-)

I know, right? The recs on these boards are killing me! 'Cuz they're all so good! I'm always curious when on the KF someone brings up the problem with having too many books in the archive/Cloud causing problems (Cyn raises hand here). And yet. I. Can't. Stop (Flux Pavillion - love that song!)
There's actually a poster on the boards - HJ - I consider to be my personal librarian. She makes a rec, I go get it. Yesterday, she posted about The Edge of Courage (Red Team). I didn't even finish the sample before I 1-clicked! Don't you just love books where there's no warming up period, where from the first few paragraphs you're thinking, yeah, this works. Fortunately, she always finds bargain-priced books, so even though that made #1033 in my TBR, it was only $0.99.
KC, I'm keeping an eye out for your new list. That's another reason I love listings as well - who you got I need to get, lol. :)

CyMac says:
Thanks, Laurie! And for the rec about the sequel as well. I'd heard that it wasn't quite as good - but if Jake is in it, I'm in. :)

Oh my, that does sound good! And I just got the Kindle Fire. I have a feeling I'll be buying that one as soon I get it figured out!

CyMac says:
Ohhh, have fun with it! I just got mine in March and it does exactly what I want it to do - provide direct access to Amazon.com, live and in color, no matter where I am at home! No more having to go to the desktop in the office, or drag out the laptop; the Fire is at hand and easy to transport from room to room.
I've also noticed that it doesn't have the problems with large archives that my KK has. I can keep WiFi on and download a sample tout suite with rebooting issues. The carousel makes it easy to flip through the covers of my books to see what I want to read next, and it's my own little portable radio with the Pandora app. Ahh, shady umbrella, cuppa Joe, the Fire and the KK - what a lovely time. Enjoy it!

ETA I guess Amazon is proactive in making links to their site - funny!

Well, he's in it, but...

If you'd like a few spoilers before you go ahead and purchase the book, let me know. I think the Kindle edition is still kind of expensive. I just checked and unfortunately it's not lendable, or else I'd offer to lend you mine.

Well, while trying to edit my post to add "X", I accidentally deleted the whole thing. Curses!
So, below, I am entering the whole thing again. Except "J", which for the life of me, I can't remember what I read for it. (and "Z", which I haven't read yet.) If I don't remember J before I finish Z, I guess I'll have to find another one. (Got a few "J"s on the keeper shelf I could re-read, and a few on the wish list, but none in the tbr pile, worse luck.) That'll teach me to be lazy and try to edit from a touchscreen rather than a keyboard.

Agnew, Denise - Maneater
Bolen, Cheryl - The Bride Wore Blue
Cross, Kaylea - Out of Her League
Daniels, BJ - Crime Scene At Cardwell Ranch
Enoch, Suzanne - Stolen Kisses
Fasano, Donna - His Wife for Awhile
Gabrielle, Tina - Lady of Scandal
Hunter, Ellen Elizabeth - Murder on the Candlelight Tour
Ingram, Mona - Fool Me Once
James, PD - Death Comes to Pemberly
Keegan, Karen - The Dark Lord
Lyons, CJ - Borrowed Time
Miller, Julie - Beauty and the Badge
Neels, Betty - The Convenient Wife
Oliphant, Margaret - The Marriage of Elinor
Petersen, Jenna - Scandalous
Quick, Amanda - Ravished
Rasley, Alicia - Royal Renegade
Sumner, Tracy - Tides of Passion
Trollope, Anthony - The Way We Live Now
Upcher, Caroline - Within a Whisper
Vaughn, Evelyn - Knight in Blue Jeans
Ward, Tamara - Storm Surge
Stout, ReX - The Golden Spiders
Yonge, Charlotte Mary - The Daisy Chain
Zachary, Hugh - Murder in White

*ediit* Hah! I remembered it, despite it being an eminently forgettable story.

Congrats, Tealadytoo! I'm sorry to hear that about the J one; I have the same title and it's my first P D James. This doesn't bode well for picking up more of them! I've got to get back on track for both of the challenges; I've been reading a lot of Anne Gracie recently and that's not helping much with the author challenge!

PD James is a very good mystery author, if a bit dark. Her Adam Dalgleish series is first rate. Which is why I had hopes for "Death Comes to Pemberly". But the Austen fan girl and intricate mystery writer personnas didn't quite mix. I wouldn't let it scare you off from her other books though.

Thanks, tealadytoo. Maybe I'll use it to get back on challenge track next weekend...but I wouldn't bet on it! ;-)

Down to 8 authors. 6 more months to finish up. I'll have to check out the other lists for some suggestions.

Just put #13 on the list, thanks to the new Amanda Quick, Q is done. So half-way done, half-way to go, and it's almost half-way thru the year...hmm. Nope, better speed it up because I know I'll run out of time if I'm trying to finish come December! I need to get off my Maya Banks & Anne Gracie festival!

DONE!!!! Went out with a whimper, since the last entry (Z - Murder in White) was pretty lame, but I found several new-to-me authors that I really liked (Kaylea Cross Jenna Petersen, Julie Miller), so it was a good exercise.

KC says:
Well done, tealadytoo! I'm sorry the last one was not so great, but you did find new authors, which is always wonderful--until you try to buy everything they've published...but it helps the economy so you're doing your patriotic duty! Are you going to follow in CyMac's footsteps and try again? (at which point, I'll be marveling at both of you!)

CyMac says:
Congrats! It does feel good, yes? I can't say they help the TBR pile to go down (there's nothing that's helping with that monster since I can't stop getting great recs which leads to more books, lol) but challenges do help with expanding my reading choices. I ran across Kaylea Cross, too, and I'm hoping to read her series later.

Hey, KC,
I thought you were going to go digging in the pile and go again? We got six months left, let's go! :)

I know, I know...but I've been binging on Maya Banks. I found her erotica era, and I'm learning stuff...I thought I was pretty experienced in my reading. Ha! I'm finding I don't mind menages as long as there is love involved, but I'm not really liking the bondage, dominance/submission stuff. I started a re-read of Porter's "Girl of the Limberlost" this weekend, just to cleanse the palate. Talk about polar opposites!

I did also start a Courtney Milan this weekend also, but didn't get far. Starting a little slow. It will help with the U in the title challenge.
