This is kind of vague, because I cannot remember whether I read this book or just read the blurb of it.

Anyway, it is about a hero who rejects heroine because she is BEAUTIFUL and he didn't want a beautiful wife or a wife at all.

It may have been a mail-order bride story or a marriage of convenience story.

This was a historical but if you know of more titles with this plot either historical or contemporary feel free to suggest them.

Thank you.

Jenny

I have read it and know that the H was not very happy about having a beautiful wife. Something about previous women/wife hurting him? Will try and remember more/book!

One recently read is Annabelle's Courtship were the H is wanting a wife, has a list and beautiful is not there. They are too much trouble. When h hears his list for a wife in his proposal to her, she rejects him!

Lord Rose says:
Charming the Prince by Teresa Medeiros kind of fits. He wants a wife to take care of his (many) children, but doesn't want to be tempted to get her pregnant, so he sends a servant off to find him a bride that's maternal and plain. Of course, it didn't quite go as planned...

Teresa Medieros: Fairest of Them All Hero's family is cursed - the men fall in love with beautiful women and go crazy, ending in suicide/murder etc. Hero has to get married but he actively searches for a very homely bride to try and avoid the curse. Heroine doesn't want to be married off so she makes herself look disgusting to scare away the suitors her father has lined up. Hero picks and marries her precisely because she's hideous. Oops

Desert Rain by Elizabeth Lowell - I vaguely recall the reason the h hides the fact that she's a world famous model from the H because he hates beautiful women (I don't remember why?). Sorry, not much help. I can look up for more details if you need me to.

Once a Princess (Cardinia's Royal Family Book 1) by Johanna Lindsey.

Tanya was spirited away from her homeland and her royal family as a baby because of assassins. She is brought to America and has a terrible foster family who owns a bar. She uses makeup to look ugly so the patrons won't paw her.

Stefan is the Crown Prince who was betrothed (it's complicated) to her from birth. Stefan has some scars from a childhood accident and he is freaked out over them so he doesn't want a beautiful wife because he thinks he is so ugly. She is wearing her ugly makeup the first time he sees her. When the makeup gets washed off, he freaks becuase she is beautiful.

Jude Deveraux's Eternity has this plot... a mail order bride story.

I don't think he rejects her in this one. He is sortof stuck with her with the contract. It was a cute read.

He couldn't reject her but he did in that he didn't want her because she was beautiful.

I didn't think it was the book the OP wanted but I thought I would throw it out into the mix. It was a good book, I thought.
