I was seriously starting to think that Friday was never going to come? But it is almost here and its our work XMAS party which means I likely won't actually be doing any work tomorrow

but what's everyone reading this weekend?

I am planning on starting Gone Country and I have a couple of Bingo books to finish up for a Goodreads group. The Casual Vacancy also just came in at the library - so I am going to start it.

On the ipod, I am listening to Hostage (Elie Wiesel) and if I finish that up, I have the second book in the Maisie Dobbs mystery series (Birds of a Feather)

ETA for anyone on twitter - you can use #fridayreads or #fridaylistens to put weekend reading plans out there

Still working on the few titles needed for the challenges; I'll start an Unger (I think it's "Beautiful Lies") for the Author challenge and then I have only the W left.

Several more needed for the Title challenge, and currently reading a G for that one. Started it last night, and can't remember title or author. And so far; I'll probably try to forget the book also! Maybe I'll switch back & start "Georgiana Darcy's Diary vol 2" by Elliott. I enjoyed vol. 1...

Also currently reading Georgette Heyer's "Pistols for Two" I don't think I've ever read it before, altho I had it in the coll. A lot of great short stories. I just finished the one where the young man was saved from being killed, chopped up & boiled. Careful of the inns you go to!

Everyone have a great weekend!

I am finishing Catherine Mann's Cover Me (Elite Force: That Others May Live) tonight. It's pretty good. I may pick a short story or two after that. Two much holiday stuff to do this weekend to commit to a long book.

I just finished Twelve Days (The McRae Series, Book 1 - Sam and Rachel) and I loved it so much I took a break from the Christmas books to start Edge of Heaven (The McRae Series, Book 2 - Emma).

tealadytoo, I picked up Santa Wore Combat Boots when it was free. I read it a few days ago and thought it was a good read. Please let me know what you think about Save Me, Santa. I might bump it up on my tbr pile. Thanks.

I'm just finishing A Savage Betrayal and I'm pretty sure it will be about a 3 *** read for me. One thing that keeps pulling me out of the story is , and I know that it's written by an English author and that it takes place in London and I don't really know their lingo but throughout the whole book where I feel the word "liar" should be, she has " confidence trickster" .......for some reason that bugs me. lol
After this book I'm not sure what I will read next.

I love the Gemini Men series.

@ Deanna, I like Elie Wiesel's style. Let me know what you think. I might add that to my list for next year :)

I'm working on some of my short Christmas stories. So far I'm reading The Wish: A Bonus Holiday Short Story and for something longerMust Love Mistletoe. But tonight I got to finish Wicked Games for a group read on GR.

i'm liking hostage - its interesting - what I really like is how he a jewish writing has been able to portray feelings/sentiments of palestinians without it being either too emotional, too clinical, or too underplayed - which I can't imagine was easy...there aren't any chapters - it is more told in vingettes of his life - the narrator is really good

re-reading some Nora Roberts this week. I'm not buying anything new until Dec 31 when i'm getting ready for my 17 hour flight from Boston to Mumbai. But I'm definitely storing up a list of all these great recs. everyone is putting up.

interesting. So I should definitely listen to it...might help it flow better. I'll have to put it on my audio wish list :) Thanks, Deanna.

I finished Wicked Games and it was very cute. I love the theme of the book. I finished The Wish as well. I liked it but it was a little hokey. I didn't understand the background for the wish. I wanted to know how did Augusta came about her powers. It could be a part of series and that's why I felt like something was missing. Anyway, it was a nice way to start my Saturday morning.

I am FINALLY started on Daughter of Smoke and Bone. How many weeks does that make that I've stated here that I was going to read it? ;)

Then, I'm giving serious thought to hitting the first In Death book up again.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 15, 2012 7:42:47 PM PST

I just wrote a whole post which Amazon deleted...because of the book title! Let me try again...

As a joke, I read a book titled Snowballin': I F***ed Frosty. (Let's see if this passes inspection). Anyhow, it was a super short, error-riddled quickie that made me laugh out loud. (I can't add the link because it doesn't pass Amazon's own guidelines. O-kay.)

I also read an awesome berserker trilogy by Kerrigan Byrne. My favorite one was Unspoken (Highland Historical #1). These are novella-length, well-written and sexy stories. I really liked them.

Off to xmas shop!

NRB/Penny

No, I actually started reading it. I'm past page 50. Can't read it at night due to poor lighting, and have to switch over to a kindle book for evening reading.

So far, so good. I think we've just been introduced to the conflict, but don't know exactly what that is, yet.
