Which was the best romance book of the year? Released in 2012 or maybe 2011?

Are you asking for opinions, or are you looking for some sort of contest winner?

Riveted by Meljean Brook. Loved that the H wasn't an alpha. I think I'm suffering from alpha fatigue. The h is fantastic too.

Umm, let's see... According to what I put on Goodreads, these are the 2012 books I've loved:

Lothaire (Immortals After Dark) by Kresley Cole
Thief of Shadows (Maiden Lane) by Elizabeth Hoyt
A Week to Be Wicked by Tessa Dare

For me, it has to be Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. I've read so many more just like that story that were just as good but my mind always goes back to Beautiful Disaster and it's the only story that I've gone back to re-read several times.

By a new author I would have to say The Unwanted Wife. Loved the writing.

As for the tried and true authors, I would have to say Never Seduce a Scot: The Montgomerys and Armstrongs. Loved everything about this one and am anxious for the next one!

I don't think i've given any romances 5 star reviews this year - I'm really picky with those (only given out 6 so far)

Same here. Couldn't think of a single title to list on this thread.

I have a couple of YA that have romantic elements - Daughter of Smoke & Bone and Grave Mercy but no traditional romance

While I rarely give 5* reviews, and I don't know that I gave any of these above a 4* or 4.5*, my favorites this year (so far - still 26 days of reading to go!) would include:
PNR: Lothaire; Oracle's Moon; How to Drive a Dragon Crazy
Contemporary:Perfection (A Neighbor From Hell); Playing For Keeps: A Neighbor From Hell Novel; Seduction and Snacks; On the Island; Blame It on Texas (Hotter in Texas, Book 2); Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain Series)
Historical: In the Thrill of the Night (The Merry Widows); A Week to Be Wicked; Defiant
RS: Whispers in the Dark; Sweet Reward: A Last Chance Rescue Novel
YA/NA: The Fault in Our Stars; Pushing the Limits (Harlequin Teen)
Erotica-ish: Chasin' Eight (Rough Riders); Liberating Lacey
Non-Romance: Gone Girl; This Is Where I Leave You; The Hypnotist
And special mention: Forbidden (sad, disturbing, really well done); and a freebie I read on GR called Into Deep Waters which was a lovely m/m story by Kaje Harper

i did give Forbidden 5 stars; Gone Girl is going to be close...i'm still mulling it over...I need to get my review up

I really loved Seducing Cinderella. Fun, fast passed and deliciously erotic.

Hands down 'On the Island'. I have read it at least four times already and it turned me into a 'contemporary' reader after only loving historicals. I want to see more stories like this for 2013!

Aussie Girl says:
Firelight (Darkest London)
Kiss of Steel
Lover Reborn
Sacrificial Magic

I' ve read some great paranormals published this year above.

Not published this year but great Flowers from the Storm and I discovered Robyn Carr's perfect romancelandia town with equally perfect men in Virgin River series and Elizabeth Hoyt's smexy historicals.
