I don't think this one is more than a few years old. H and h were married. She abandoned him plus her newborn baby because she had to leave for cancer treatment. 18 months later she comes back, but he won't even let her explain. I think ultimately she places her life on the line for the baby somehow, and in the end after he learns the whole truth they go to visit the facility where she received treatment. Sound familiar to anyone?

That was probably the most angst-ridden HP I've ever read! (But I liked it!)

Meriemel, Kept for Her Baby (Harlequin Presents Extra) by Kate Walker wrote an HP with a similar plot (not cancer though).
