H's friend/relative fakes interest in h to induce jealousy??

While reading another book, I found myself hoping that one of the H's friends (or even his brother) would fake an interest in the h to get the H to admit he loved her... It didn't happen.

But are there any other stories out there with this is a plot device? I'm hoping for a H he refuses to admit he loves the h, brushes her feelings off, until this OM suddenly says he interested.

Any recs? Historical or Contemporary are OK... not too big on the paranormals, tho.

Thanks in advance!

Gem of Gravane (The Northern Knights) Has this element within the story. The H's 2nd in command does some 'innocently kind' things which set the H off - much to the Hero's annoyance. This is one of my new favorite historical/Norse Lord reads.

Mate Set by Laurann Dohner. Brother Anton makes H Grady jealous on purpose to show Grady how much he wants the h. He worked although he was already very much into her before.

Hiker, I remember that book. Didn't care too much for the H. Just couldn't understand how he could have been so "stupid" as not to realize that the h would have issues with what he did/didn't do.

EDIT: fixed typo

Reader in NJ says:
Hiker, yeah, the OW definitely knew what she was doing. Then, both he and the OW were supposedly shocked that everyone around them thought that they were a couple -- including her own family (found that out when reading a later book by the author).

I really wanted the the h to dump him and go searching for someone else. IMHO she could have done better. LOL

Navi: "Rock Chick Renegade" is one of Kristen Ashley's Rock Chick series - one of the better ones, I thought, mostly because the hero Vance is way more appealing than some of KA's heroes, who often tend toward the a-hole side of alpha, to be honest! :) The whole series is pretty similar in that the heroine is kind of indoctrinated into the "Rock Chicks", which consists of all the women who hook up with heroes who work surveillance and security for the hero of the first book, "Rock Chick", Lee Nightingale. The heroine inevitably gets in all sort of trouble that the hero has to get her out of, although Jules in "Rock Chick Renegade" is a bit different in that she's quite kick-ass herself. Vance is very much the strong, silent type hero who had a totally crappy childhood and as he says to Jules, has never had anything in his life apart from her that belonged to him alone. (These are very possessive "mine!" type heroes!) In every RC book, at least one of the other guys flirts with the heroine and the hero doesn't like it, to say the least, but it goes a bit further in this book and the hero REALLY doesn't like it.

Ooh, this is interesting. Would love more recs on this.

IIRC, there's a scene like that in Yours to Keep (Hqn) where the H's brother flirts with the h, and H immediately turns highly possessive, when before, he was turning away from h or something like that.

aggh. i know that there are a lot out there, and one particular scene keeps running through my mind, when the friend/brother puts his arm around the h, and the H removes it and looks pointedly at the friend/brother's wife/girlfriend to tell her to watch her man. she just looks amused, though. i think it was a trilogy or something like that. maybe nora roberts. yeah, it might have been The Fall of Shane MacKade (Mackade Brothers), but i'm not sure.

Tanner's Scheme by Lora Leigh. Paranormal. Tanner's, H, twin brother fakes interest in Scheme, the h, to get Tanner to admit that she is his mate. Becomes really possessive and jealous as a result. This does not happen until more than half way through the book.

It's an YA, which I don't go for until I get into the mood for it. But I thought it was a great read. Evie Be Mine I think it the title and it can be found on the author site. Anyone help with the author name?

The h has like a million brothers and the friends of the H play a game that the bros are her bfs to get the H to admit his love because he's a broody and silent and cute.

Loved EVBM!!! I normally don't read YA, but this was a good one. Her website also features the H point of view to read there. You have to sign up and download the book after accepted. It is worth it. H is an older college guy who scares everyone to death with his size and his non verbal expressions. h has to 'read' his thoughts thru these expressions and it is pretty funny. She is constantly talking to her brothers and the H thinks they are her BFs. Lots of jealousy with the H over this misunderstanding! It doesn't get 'fixed' till closer to the end. He also has a friend that befriends her to the point H gets bent out of shape about it. It is also very smexy in a good way. Here is the link:

Edit for bad spelling!

The Dutiful Rake, MOA, heroine is in love with hero but he does not want to show his soft side. His friend realizes heroine is in danger caused by the hero's apparent disinterest and starts escorting her. He soon realizes that hero is not as disinterest as it appears and he continues to engage heroine to spur heroine into action.

Match Me If You Can (Chicago Stars / Bonner Brothers) by susan elizabeth phillips-the H's client, a quaterback, flirts with the h to make the H jealous
Dream Man was the one that i was thinking of with the friend putting the arm around the h and the H getting very possessive about it and removing the arm.

Kiss Me Again (this one is a historical romance) has this element to it from what I recall. H refuses to admit his feelings for the h, so his friend decided to give him a good sharp shove in the right direction. From what I remember this is more than a dance or two the friend actually pays court to the h to some degree.
