I have a question about Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren (available for pre-order)...

The blurb says that the story was originally published online as Twilight fanfiction under the title "The Office".
Has anyone read "The Office" by tby789? Would you recommend reading it?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks :)

Many of us have read The Office. Many people like it a lot. I enjoyed it generally. At first H and h are very hostile-antagonistic. There's clearly sexual tension. They are jerks towards each other, resisting the secual pull. (he's a man-wh0re, she's his assistant with ties to his parents, and they both work for his family's company). Then they start smexing it up secretly. He becomes very possessive. They're insecure about what their relationship means because of the way they started and the need for secrecy.

She had some out takes that I hope she added to the story that show his possessiveness and jealousy more.

Yowsers! what a price for a re-published fanfic by first time authors.

Thanks Tinkerbell for the heads up that this is fanfic! Definitely not my cup of tea.

Given the very large number of tag-ticks they have, I'd say they already have a strong fanbase and probably a good publicity machine.

Good God! I just noticed the price, I'll stick with the fic, thank you very much!

I haven't read it yet, but I have it, if anyone's interested.

Thanks for the spoilers, ambrosia :) It sounds interesting. But it is rather pricey for a re-published fanfiction. That's why I wanted to know whether it's worth reading. I'm gonna wait and see if the price drops...

Just making sure. From your response, it seems clear that you're not. I thought that maybe it was a clever mechanism to get people to promote new books. Sorry! The prevalence of sock puppetry is making me cynical.

I can send you The Office if that would make up for it!

Seriously. 9.99 for Twilight fanfiction?

ambrosia...It's no big deal. I understand your worries, but I can assure you that I'm not a sock puppet ;) I just love reading and this forum provides a lot of good recommendations. I'm not a native speaker, so my English might not be perfect. My Dad is Irish and my Mom is German. I grew up in Germany. So naturally my German is better than my English. I'm constantly trying to improve my English skills though...

I'd love to read The Office. It would be nice if you could send it to me :) Thanks.

Well your English certainly seems respectable to me! Certainly way better than in many of the self-published books I've seen. I guess that's a low bar though!! :-). I've sent it to you. If it doesn't arrive soon, you should check your spam folder. If you dont get it,please let me know, and i'll tey to send it again. Sorry it took so long - I became absorbed in a new fanfic and forgot to check the board. I hope you can read a PDF.

Hi, would it be too much to send me the fanfic also?
It sounds good, but really pricey. I have a really hard time accepting such a high price for an ebook. Thanks!

$9.99 for any Kindle version of a book is just NO. Unless it turns my Kindle into a multiple orgasm providing device, cooks me dinner, and buys me my favorite baked goods, I just cannot pay that much money for an eBook. *sigh* especially when the paperback is only about a dollar more.

I think there will be a follow up to the Beautiful Bastard book, because they have a book also for 9.99 called Beautiful Stranger... does anyone know what this is? Is it part of The Office but broken into seperate books, or is it another one of their fan fics? Also... does anyone have A Little Crazy fan fic by the same girls?

I've been told that the fic was extensively re-worked for publication, and that only about 20% of the original content remains in the published version (with the other 80% presumably being new/original story). I would be interested to hear from someone who has read both the fanfic version (which I thought was okay) and the newly published one to find out if this is true or not.

ambrosia says:
The published version won't be out until February 2013.
