Books where the hero has to have the heroine, not for revenge either, but wants her for her and persists her relentlessly. Can be historical or contemporary but no sci-fi please. There can be conflict but I hate when it comes from the H being a jerk.

Warrior Bride by Tamara Leigh is exactly what you want. There is a sequel which is also very good Virgin Bride

A Gentle Feuding by Johanna Lindsey
Captive Bride by Johanna Lindsey

Just finished White Trash Beautiful that was a rec from this forum. The H was really good and I liked him. He is a band leader and meets her in a diner. She is a waitress. He instantly wants her and does all the right stuff to win her by the end of the book. She has a bunch of baggage and he sticks with her no matter what. This was a nice short read.

His Indecent Proposal by Lynda Chance.

Bedded by the Boss (Louisiana Liaisons Book 3)

In both, he is crazy-wild over her and he does everything he can to get her and keep her.

Simply Love by Catherine Anderson. The H is, unfortunately, a jerk in how he manages to acquire her, but pays for it in sheer inconvenience in dealing with an innocent who puts him on a pedestal and in having to deal with the fallout of his actions when her father and older brother catch up to him. Has a truly great grovel on his part.

Tinkabelle, I LOVE the whole Hathaway series. So good!
Judith, I Have read His Indecent Proposal and really liked it. I just downloaded Bedded By The Boss and am fairly excited.
Angela, that book looks really funny and recommended by Julia Quinn. Found and ordered it, I can't wait to start it!
Mary, I might give this a try. I really hate it when the hero wants the heroine for reasons that have little to do with her. I hate a jerk hero the most.
Thank you all for the recs, hope I get to read them all!

The following books by Lisa Marie Rice, all of which have H's that totally crazy about the h's and some show obsessive behavior. Midnight Man, Midnight Run, Midnight Angel, Dangerous Passion and my favorite one, Dangerous Lover.

I have only read Midnight Angel but will give Dangerous Lover a try next. I do like LMR's books, though I haven't read many.

MegMeg: I hope you like Dangerous Lover. The Amazon brief summary of the book is below.

"I don't want to be alone tonight."

Caroline Lake can hardly believe she would ever say these words to someone she'd never met before. When a tall, dark stranger arrives wanting to rent a room in her beautiful empty shell of a mansion, she hesitates. Though she is in dire financial straits, the man looks dangerous-dangerously sexy. She's overwhelmed by the desire he sparks in her-hotter than anything she's ever felt before, making her ache to experience his sensuous touch. But who is this armed and mysterious man with danger following in his wake? He's not who she thinks he is . . .

Jack Prescott has wanted Caroline forever. He has spent the past twelve years dreaming of her, desiring her, while fighting in some of the worst hellholes on earth. Now he's back, with twenty million dollars in blood diamonds and a relentless enemy stalking him. But this time Jack's determined that nothing will stop him from finally making Caroline his.

Loved all of LMR's books. I have one or two to go, but haven't read one I didn't love. I reread Midnight Angel quite a bit. Can't go wrong with her books.

Just read This Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas and it fits this thread. The H is desperate for the h. He's borderline stalker.

Is it erotica?

HJ Leonard says:
How many stars would you rate it, CMommy? The 17 5-stars make me nervous, though I haven't really gone through them. I know this book is being named a lot lately, but a personal rec would be helpful.

CMommy says:
It was a 4 star read for me. I enjoyed the intensity of the H and the mystery surrounding him. The h was a bit annoying at times with her constant denial, stubbornness, and rebellion but it also made the story interesting. The H desperately and single mindedly pursues her.
There were a few grammatical errors but not so many it was annoying but the story is self edited by the author. Also, the author is not American. She is from the UK so some of the phrases or terms used may be a bit different.

CMommy says:
N. Khaliq: Yes, I would classify as erotica.

Naked (The Blackstone Affair, Part 1) and All in (The Blackstone Affair, Part 2) (sorry, can't find the link) fit this as well. I think I enjoyed the first book more than the second though.

wondercat says:
Can you spoil Naked (The Blackstone Affair) a little? I'm mainly interested in the end and why she leaves him. I'm looking to avoid another Bared to You: A Crossfire Novel rip off.

Posted on Nov 12, 2012 12:47:20 PM PST
CMommy says:
wondercat: The h in Naked (The Blackstone Affair, Part 1) is a art conservationist and nude model. The H is hired by the father to protect her from the father of an old bf who has political aspirations. She has a checkered past with the ex-bf that could prove damaging to his career. I wouldn't say it's anything like Bared to You: A Crossfire Novel except maybe it's highly erotic.

wondercat says:
Thanks, CMommy. I'm guessing she's not too thrilled when she finds out the H was hired by her father?

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 12, 2012 12:58:09 PM PST
CMommy says:
wondercat: Oh boy! That's an understatement. The worst part is the situation she was in when she found out.

ej1201 says:
wondercat - I think you see more of H's possessive side in the second book since its from his POV. But Naked shows his determination to get her.
