It's that time again!! Thankfully!

What is everyone reading this weekend? I have tickets to Rascal Flatts tomorrow night and have an 8 mile run to do in the am (must remember to set alarm in the am and drag my butt outta bed!)

I'm hoping to read Out in the Field (Kate McMurray); Inherit the Sky (Ariel Trachea) and Trust Me (Jeff Erno) as they are all monthly challenge books for one of my GR groups and I haven't started them yet.

I am also listening to Animal Magnetism (Berkley Sensation) (Jill shalvis) on my ipod and if I finish that up, i'll be starting to the next Rizzoli and Isles book (Ice Cold: A Rizzoli & Isles Novel)

Deanna,

I'm so jealous of you for going to see Rascal Flats! They are one of my favorite groups. I seem to remember that you got the mega ticket package, correct? I hope you a fantastic time at the concert.

When I received Amazon's email promoting a new book, I was excited about getting Maya Banks next KGI book. Turns out it's only available for pre-order. I hate when I get excited that a book I've been waiting for is finally available only to find out that it's NOT.

So, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm game for most anything. Romantic Suspense, Paranormal, Urban Fantasy, a good grovel book, good Erotica (that actually has a plot), almost anything. Thanks!

yep - I was at Miranda Lambert about a month ago, and Rascal Flatts this weekend ;) Little Big Town, and Eli Young band are the openers IIRC

have you read Regan Hastings at all? Its the alternate name for Maureen Child - they are pnr with witches in a world where being a witch makes you persecuted...there are 3 out so far. Or Elisabeth Naughton and her series that started with Marked: Eternal Guardians (Volume 1) - they are greek mythology but focus on the Jason and the Argonauts vice the gods/goddesses

Thanks, Deannna.

I picked up Marked and will be reading it as soon as I shut down the laptop.

Deanna,

You always have so much going on, I feel like a slug in comparison, lol. I run a measly 3-4 miles in the a.m. and think I'm doing so good...8 miles would not be pretty:( Must be getting old!

I'm trying to finish up True Love Way, which is one of those "in between" books: Not bad enough to DNF but not good enough to hold my interest. Once that's out of my way I'll tackle something in the ever increasing TBR pile. Enjoy the concert!

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 22, 2012 6:29:58 AM PDT
lol, I only did 2 yesterday but am feeling it, because the first mile was uphill all the way and was a lot steeper than it looked...lol! (I'm feeling it in the butt...)

2, 3-4 or 8 miles; I'm seriously impressed at any of them! I do good to walk, forget running. And I have to admit; my mind said Rascal Flatts is a group? Tells you not my line of music; I go more the classic & hard rock. Hey, I'm a gal of the 60's! Enjoy, Deanna!

I'm debating whether to paint the front porch posts or pull weeds tomorrow. We're getting so dry I'll have to run the hose in the flowerbeds to pull but they're getting pretty big! Maybe I'll just deadhead them instead so they're not spreading the love thru the flowerbeds, just their roots!

As for reading; maybe I'll get to the Courteney (sp?) Milan I was going to read last week, but I picked up Sarah McCarty's Caine's Reckoning (Hqn) and enjoyed it so, I downloaded two more from the series last night: Tracker's Sin (Hell's Eight) and Sam's Creed (Hqn) and I have a feeling that I'll be continuing with them.

Nana, I just finished Morgan Hawke's Victorious Star (Interstellar Service & Discipline) and Fallen Star (Interstellar Service & Discipline) and can recommend them! Pretty strong erotica, (well, to me) and overly-endowed aliens, but I stayed up late last night finishing Fallen Star. I still have her Lost Star [Interstellar Service & Discipline] to go. The rest of her writing doesn't sound like it has much plot, so I don't know if I'll continue with hers after these.

Everyone have a great weekend. Keep cool!

I am reading Cynful by Dana Marie Bell - it's just okay, the heroine is annoying me (along with her friends) and the hero is too beta.

I think I am going to reread a Linda Howard next because I need a good book. Maybe Kill and Tell: A Novel or Now You See Her

Posted on Jun 22, 2012 10:15:29 AM PDT
MelissaB....funny you should mention Linda Howard's Now You See Her....I saw it rec'd on another thread so I bought it. For some reason it wasn't hooking me, so I DNFed it. Everyone I know loves that book, so I'll try again later.

I'm reading Multiple Motives (A Kate Huntington Mystery), and aside from some POV problems, I'm enjoying this mystery. I also got 2 new Liam Campbell short stories based on a rec from Dog Lover in the Liam thread.... Missing, Presumed... (A Liam Campbell Short Story) and On the Evidence (A Liam Campbell Short Story).

Hope everyone has a good weekend and stays cool!

Penny,

Now You See Her isn't my favorite LH but I enjoy reading it. Have you read Midnight Rainbow? I like that one and would reread it right now (or White Lies) but they aren't on Kindle and it's much easier for me to read on my phone since I had the baby. Have you read Open Season or Mr. Perfect? Those two are her better newer books. Kill and Tell is good too, all of her books have different feels to them so if you don't like one, try another. Oh, Heart of Fire is fun too if you haven't read it, it's a jungle adventure romance.

and writing us some more Klaus brothers right? I swear you are torturing me!!

I'm with Deanna...Doesn't the "hippie" brother get his story next??? I love me some long-haired, bearded hippie boys, lol.

MelissaB....I read Open Season and I LOVED that one. That was my first LH book. And I just read Kill and Tell recently, and I thought that was a great book, too. Which is why I was surprised I didn't get hooked by Now You See Her. I was slightly put off by the fact that the heroine is getting involved w/ a married man (albeit in a divorce, but nevertheless)....that sort of bugged me. Heart of Fire sounds fun....maybe I'll try that one next. (You got me with the "jungle adventure romance"!!!!)

Deanna and L Burns...I'm torturing you. Hee heee! Sorry. I need a break from the Klaus boys this year. I'm just about to self-pub my first book about a bearded lumberjack (I know you're shocked about that), and then a picturebook about a super-hero weenie dog, based on my own dachshund, Lucy. And then I'll get to the hippie brother and the rest of the Klaus family.

<<my first book about a bearded lumberjack>>

I'm picturing Opie from Sons of Anarchy - and believe me, that's a GOOD thing!

Looks like I may be changing my reading intent: a response in one of the other forums mentioned Johanna Lindsay's Prisoner of My Desirefrom 1991, and I know I have it. Now I want to go read it again because it's been years! May trigger the urge to read several of hers from way back then!

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 22, 2012 2:35:04 PM PDT
L Burns...You just made me Google Opie (I've never watched Sons of Anarchy)....schwing! Nice beardage!

.Midnight Remedy is on the docket today. Due to a long plane flight, I'll likely finish it and move on to Captured. If I get to it, I may read To Desire a Scoundrel (Southern Heat/Novella Two: TANNER).

Lol, no need to thank me, it's my gift to you. And you really have to watch season 1 of SoA. It's a good show and total eye candy for those of us who like bearded, scruffy, tough looking guys.

I finished the solidly mediocre True Love Way and started A Little Ray Of Sunshine by Lani Diane Rich. So far, so good. I think the only thing I read by her before was something she wrote with Jennifer Crusie.

I've been all about Jax (on SOA) but last season Oppie really caught my eye,not sure what it was ...either he worked out a bit more or what ....but ya Oppie id delicious!

Any way,I'm still reading Lover Avenged. I didn't realize how busy a newborn baby(grandchild) ,3 puppies, 2 grown dogs,3 kids (two are adults but still require all the "mom"stuff) a husband and a full daycare would keep me. Before the grandbaby and puppies I would have finished this book in a few days. :/

Ah, L Burns... your comment made me smile. For most people its all about Jax , who I can way appreciate but I've always had a soft spot for Op.

So I didn't get much reading done this week because of work but I'm going to finish up Visions of Chains by Regan Hastings. Then I'm starting No One Left to Tell by Karen Rose.

going to do some re-reading this week seeing as I just purchased a ticket to India and really shouldn't be buying any books. I do still need to get some of the KGI books so that I can read the new one in July. And I've been wondering about Chaos Burning can't decide if i want to buy it or not. After reading the thread I'm thinking a Linda Howard may be in order.

MelissaB,

I'm disappointed then. I've liked all the Halle Shifter books and was looking forward to reading this one. :(

Just finishing up Law Man (Dream Man Series) and will most likely start Motorcycle Man (The Dream Man Series) right after.

Have a great weekend!
