I'm looking for books where the hero and heroine dont exactly like each other whether it was because of something that happened during their childhood or just really didn't get off on the right foot. Something like in After the Night by Linda Howard or Beautiful Disaster? I also read From Rags by Suzanne Wright and I liked that one as well. I am very close to finishing Beautiful Disaster and need a new book to read very soon! Thanks :)

Practice Makes Perfect (Berkley Sensation)

This fits :) It's highly recommended. Some of the scenes before they get together and are pranking each other, especially a certain court room scene, are so funny. I won't spoil why they dislike each other so much but I think you'd like it.

If Tomorrow Comes has the h h not hitting off and competing against each other. One of my fave books of all time.

Ain't She Sweet? also meets this theme and h comes back home and must make amends for how she acted in high school. Loved it.

Wicked Game lol both the h/H were childhood enemies. It leads to funny/steamy reading.

The Marriage Bargain (Marriage to a Billionaire) I liked this one too.

Game for Anything the h lost her virginity to H in high school and he treated her like crap afterwards. They meet years later he's a football bad boy and she's a PR maven.

Does Julie James write some sex or closed door scenes? I'll probably read her eventually anyway, just can't remember.

James' first book is completely closed door, the second is opened a small crack and from the third on it's open but I don't think the sex scenes added anything since I don't think it's in her writer's comfort zone.

I read Something About You (Berkley Sensation) a few years ago, and I remember liking it, but I also remember being vaguely disappointed that all that buildup, and we didn't get much pay off. I guess it'll help if I know going in.

BTW, this book totally fits the OP request- hero blames the heroine for almost losing his career a few years ago, now are forced to work together. I do remember loving the chemistry between the two, just wanted more follow through.

SheReadsAlot: I will definetly check those out!

Diremommy: I agree with The Poster With No Name. I just finished reading Something About You. It was good but like you said, all that buildup for nothing. Still, though, the book itself was good.

I'm not sure if you're open to reading historicals but if you are, try Lisa Kleypas's wallflower and Hathaway series. Wallflower book #2 It Happened One Autumn (The Wallflowers, Book 2) has what you looking for and Hathaway Books #3 Tempt Me at Twilight (Hathaways, Book 3)& #4 Married by Morning (Hathaways, Book 4) especially. Both are excellent series.

Playing For Keeps (A Neighbor From Hell Series)

Playing for Keeps starts with heroine and hero not liking each other despite being neighbors for years. It's a hilarious and fast read. I highly recommend it!

I was looking into Playing For Keeps and it seemed interesting. I will definetly look into The Best Revenge, The Charmer and The Gamble. I haven't heard of those. If there's any others you can think of then keep them coming! I'm always open to expanding my "to-read" list!!
