Looking for any plain Jane historicals, with a H who is super drawn toward her anyway.

Aussie Girl says:
A lot of the heroines in Elizabeth Hoyt's historicals are not stunningly beautiful but the heroes think they are absolutely gorgeous. They often are intelligent, practical women who are ladylike on the outside but passionate inside. I'm thinking Anna from The Raven Prince and Temperance from Wicked Intentions

The Duchess War has a plain jane. Just finished reading it. The ending lagged for me, but overall I liked it.

If you like PNR Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood) "Rhage H is described as so beautiful females human and vampire alike would trample their young to get to him, Mary h herself says she's not the kind of woman that men like him ever notice." Rhage (to himself) not my type, but never the less holds his attention like. a marching band. Lover Eternal and Lover Avenged are on my bury me with these Son or I will haunt you the rest of your life! Both have "plain" h's. If you like historicals everything by Amanda Quick have plain, older or plain older h's.

Marrying the Royal Marine (Harlequin Historical) by Carla Kelly- Heroine is plain, and hero overlooks her at first, but soon realizes his mistake.

Dee Cee says:
Brenda Joyce - The Masquerade (Hqn), the h is plain and yet the H can't seemed to help himself, he finds her so 'beautiful'.

What about Love is Blind, The Perfect Wife by Lynsday Sands, and No Regrets, Lady Flees Her Lord by Michele Ann Young. They meet this criteria. :)

Lord Rose says:
The Perfect Rake (Merridew Series) by Anne Gracie- The H sees the h and immediately thinks she's beautiful, whereas everyone else had always said her sisters were beautiful, and that she was plain.

The Wallflowers is a great series, but only 2 are actually Plain Janes. (Evie, from Devil in Winter, and Hannah from A Wallflower Christmas). Annabelle is a wallflower due to lack of fortune, and Lillian and Daisy are wallflowers due to being considered crass American heiresses.

Dark Wager- Mary Spencer

Posted on Jul 6, 2014 12:50:28 PM PDT
Pauline says:
I second Dark Wager. She knows she is not beautiful, so she has cultivated a personality that draws people (both male and female) to her. When the H accuses her of being a flirt, she says that she has created that persona precisely because she wouldn't attract suitors by her looks. Or words to that effect. It's the first in a series of, I think, three books. And I thought it was the best.

Pauline- I did not know Dark Wager was a series. What are the others and would you recommend?

Posted on Jul 6, 2014 1:27:47 PM PDT
Pauline says:
Dark Wager is the first. The next one is Lady's Wager about Jack Sommerton. The third, and last, is Devil's Wager about Lad Walker. But it also ties up any loose ends. I liked them all and read them in order as they were published. But as I said, I liked Dark Wager the best.

I have all three and like them too. I hope they will be release on kindle sooner or later.
