I'm looking for a victorian-style romance with a younger girl and older man. Think Marianne and Colonel Brandon from Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility". I'm 16 but am a good reader. Please suggest something you think I'll like!! The more deep and interesting the better!!!! (:(:

You might like Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens, or Jane Eyre or The Professor by Charlotte Bronte.

Thank you!!!! I LOVE Jane Eyre, and I'll be sure to order the other two.

'Emma' has always been my favorite Jane Austen - and the age gap with Mr Knightley is 17 years....

Another fun read from a somewhat later era (1900's), is Jean Webster's 'Daddy Longlegs' which is available free for kindle...
It's short (150 pg) and there's a follow-up called 'Dear Enemy' (with a different heroine.)

Daddy-Long-Legs
Jerusha Abbott has grown up in the John Grier Home for orphans. As the oldest, she is in charge of the younger children. An anonymous benefactor on the Board, "Mr. Smith," decides to send her to college, as long as she writes to him faithfully detailing her education. Originally published in 1912, Jean Webster's coming-of-age tale continues to be relevant to young women today. Through a series of letters Jerusha writes to "Daddy-Long-Legs," a relationship filled with affection and respect develops, even though she is the only correspondent throughout the years.
