Ok, I love romance books, but I'd like the female character to be over 40...with the flaws and baggage that goes with it. Thanks for any suggestions....Dee

A previous thread on older couples should give you some suggestions:

I agree, check out that other thread.

I'd recommend Absolution by Kaylea Cross.

Kristen Ashley has several books with heroines over 40. Inexpensive, and pretty long, too. I'll have to go back to check which titles, though. She writes her heroines from early thirties to about age 43-ish. Most of the heroes are in their 40's, too.

Nora Roberts wrote a trilogy, In the Garden, and one of the heroines is a woman in her 50s with a grown son (he's the hero of one of the books).

Have you read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon? The h, Claire, is in her 20s in the first book, but by the third, 20 years have passed. There's a lot of detail about the changes she goes through and their relationship goes through as they age together. I think they're both in their 50s in the most recent book.

Thanks for starting this thread -I'm not sure I would have found the thread The Poster gave on my own.

Hm.
This one also has BDSM exploration (she's divorced, wants to explore *stuff* she's never tried) Graceful Submission.

I am in the middle of reading The Trouble with Harry (Noble) and I am really enjoying it. It is a historical and both of the characters are in their 40's. I read it on a recomendation on a discussion forum and the book has not disapoited me. The story is very sweet and the banter is really funny. Let me know if you want spoilers.

Hi Bizy Mom,
I have just what you're looking for...or hope I do. Check out "A Collector of Affections" by me, Judith Glynn. The protagonist is over 40, actually mid-50s. She meets a seatmate on a plane and they run off together. I'm a travel writer, too, so you'll be taken to Spain, Lisbon, NYC and RI, of all places. Cheers, Judith

Hey Judith,
I looked into "A Collector of Affections" and it appears to be what I'm looking for, as I love to travel as well. I purchased it and am looking forward to reading your book.

Thank you for your suggestion
Dee

@Reader says: "I am in the middle of reading The Trouble with Harry (Noble) and I am really enjoying it."

I bought that years ago at the Dollar Store and never read it. I culled it out when I realized I really didn't want to read paper books anymore. Thanks for the link. Just 99c. Even buying the paper book and the ebook, was less than $2.50.

Judith,
You are welcome. Since my Kindle came into my life, all my purchases have been accordingly. Only books I touch these days are the Bible and reference books. (Although I have those on my Kindle as well). Thank you for making your book available on Kindle.

I'll be in touch with you through your website.

Dee

Hi Dee,
It appears I've made a big Amazon error by replying to a post and suggesting my book. Beginners ignorance. Sorry if I offended anyone. I'll keep clicking through and find the right forum. But, hey, thanks for the purchase. I look forward to corresponding with you via my Web site. Judith

No problem Judith, I didn't know that was faux pas; I'll keep you update on your website. Your book is my next to be read; especially because I love the travel aspect.

Robin Schone's Scandalous Lovers - a bit erotic, H is in his early 40's, h is almost 50 - great book. She also has a novella in the book Fascinated - A Man and A Woman - also H/h in their mid 40's or perhaps older.

Just finished Hot Wheels and High Heels and the h is 39/40 and the H is in his early 40s. They are both well preserved though! I liked it.
