Zelda Link to the Past
Final Fantasy 7 (only menu picking game I liked, those are boring as hell. they should let you fight)
Fable 1 (too short though)

Multi-platform would be the KOTOR series, with KOTOR 2 taking the crown
PC only would be PS:T, TOEE, Daggerfall, and probably any other infinity engine based games.(cant decide on one, their all great).

Xenogears & FFVI... those bring back a lot of very fond memories. I'd personally add Lufia II and Breath of Fire III to that list, too!

Phantasy star Online

Hmm, as my favorite, I'd have to probably throw a vote to Ultima V... I always loved the openess of the entire game. For an older game, the days turn to night, people follow routines as the hours change... and plus, the shadowlords would scare the #$%^ out of you. Still remember stealing into Stonegate (I think) to steal a sceptor from them, and running my butt off to escape *laugh* Terrific game ;)

For me it would have to be a toss up between final fantasy 6 chrono trigger suikoden 2 and legend of dragoon o and secret of mana

Entropia Universe. It's the "most expensive" game in the world - even got a couple of guiness world records for that, but it's the only one in which you can actually make real money in too, or at least get money back after you put it in. ;)

(sorry, it's not multi-platform, pc only, but supposedly someone got it working on linux)

It's nice to see Shining Force get some love. I loved those games back in the sega days. I'd have to go with NeverWinter Nights 2. I'm a huge D&D fan and that game had the best combination of video game and table top feel for me. I'd rather play a turn based game than a hack and slash game.

Don't know if it was mentioned, but Chrono Trigger gets me going every time. Best RPG out there, IMHO.

Star Ocean 2!!! Yes a few glitches but great graphics for its time, awesome story line, the creation/customization system, music was all just awesome.

up until recently I would've said
Kingdoms of Amalur OR Skyrim/Oblivion
things have changed though because another game came out
that I fell in love with. that game is
Dragon's Dogma!

You are right, Big Will. Star Ocean 2 almost unseated FF7 during the PSX's run. I love the real-time combat. It's fast paced and unrelenting, especially during boss fights.

Planescape: Torment, the atmosphere, the story, the gameplay, another Black Isle RPG at its best.

Neverwinter Nights was the greatest rpg and with its ability to create new maps made it one of a kind.
