Lord Baal says:
The creator of puppet shows like Fireball XL5, Stingray and best known Thunderbirds has died. In the UK at least he's the man most responsible for introducing children to SciFi over the last fifty years, he will be missed.

I am still to this day a huge fan of his short-lived but classic TV series "UFO" and to a lesser degree "Space: 1999," both of which he co-created with his then-wife Sylvia Anderson. "UFO" was the perfect balance of campy and cool sci-fi television.

RIP Mr. Anderson

It's very sad news. I was a huge fan of Thunderbirds in the '60's, my favourite characters being Scott, Virgil and Parker.

I used to watch Captain Scarlett as well, although it frightened me a bit. :)

Thank you Gerry Anderson for being a huge and memorable part of my childhood, wonderful tv programmes for children and adults alike.

The trifecta is complete--Jack Klugman, Charles Durning, and now Gerry Anderson.

I still love the design of the Eagles from Space: 1999... RIP Mr. Anderson.
