PHOTO-SHOPPING THE NEXT "STAR WARS"
Use your own judgement - some of these are offensive. But most are really funny.

Couple rather bizarre "teaser trailers" out for "Star Trek 2013":

SHORTER, DIFFERENT TRAILER MADE BY FANS

Khan is returning as the Baddie, so that might explain the anti-science theme in the shorter version.

The "shorter version" is a fan made trailer, not studio made. It is only a rumor that the baddie is Khan; Cumberbatch may be playing Gary Mitchell... or a mix of the two...

Fullme7al...
Your's is the same one as Marilyn's first one.
(I posted this to save others from checking them all).

I wonder if this is supposed to be about the Eugenics Wars?

Sorry didn't realize that.

No problem, and I'm with you...I can't wait for it to come out.

Here's a one sheet for Oblivion and a plot synopsis. I understand people don't really like Tom Cruise anymore, but I'm up for seeing this movie, it sounds kind of interesting.

And how do you find these forums from Amazon's main page? I always have to google search just to find this place.

Posted on Dec 7, 2012 12:15:16 PM PST
Nice, Fullme7al! I've never heard of Oblivion, probably because I dont' read graphic novels, though I'm a big fan of "The Walking Dead" TV show. It does sound interesting, so I'll probably go see it too.

BTW..Amazon used to have a place that listed all the forums about a year ago, but for some reason got rid of it. Google is probably your best bet. You can also try to guess a forum, since the URL format is http://www.amazon.com/forum/thread-name (ex. just now I 'guessed' http://amazon.com/forum/graphic novels and...2 threads from a few years ago with no replies. Oh well. I guessed a few more and these seem very active-> http://www.amazon.com/forum/comics, http://www.amazon.com/forum/manga)

I doubt it's better than "Wall-e".

Amazon seems to want the forums to die out. They don't just nuke them (which would suck), but they make it less likely that they will be used by making it more bothersome to do so (which sucks a bit less).

Tom Rogers says:
Amazon is definitely cutting back on its promotion of the forums--back in ye day, they encouraged it, I used to get invitations to participate on the old discussion boards, for those of you who remember those. For whatever reason, Amazon seems to feel that it should reduce the importance of user content of all kinds on the site. There may be something to that notion, I'm certainly less inclined to do reviews because my reviews don't seem to be helping people out very much.

Hi Sailor!

Amazon exists to sell things. I think it started these forums to boost sales, and there is an Insert A Product Link option every time you post. But these forums are now read worldwide, and there are too few product links.

I link to relevant books where I can. But by making forums less accessible, and not following their own Posting Guidelines in regards to predatory trolls, Amazon seems to be passively trying to get rid of the forums.

Captain says:
IMO every one of these movies mentioned that have since come out have been a disappointment. The common factor is that they have all been made by Hollywood. I will assume henceforth that sci-fi movies coming from Hollywood will disappoint and so will not look forward to them. I might see some of them via $1.20 Redbox rentals but that's it.

Captain -

Actually, SciFi/Fantasy and Children's movies are doing better than other categories in DVD sales:

Is The Hobbit going to be two or three episodes? I've seen both stated.

Fullme7al says:
Here is After Earth, which stars Will Smith and his son. It's made by M. Night Shamalayn, but notice how they don't mention that. I figure this will happen to his future movies because some people just won't go see it if they see his name attached. It looks okay, but I'm already over Will Smith and his nepotism. While his son may become a decent actor, I really just see Will going to the producers and saying I'll be in the movie, but only if my son is in it as well.

Thanks, Fullme,

It looks like some very cool effects, but I'm in the crowd that is avoiding M. Night's stuff. They have been too disappointing in the past. Especially that devil in the elevator one!

M. Night did the devil in the elevator movie? ewwww

His movies have been bad, Devil, The Happening, and Last Air Bender. I saw them in theater, but lucky for me I never had to pay.

I kind of like the premise of Earth as a wildlife preserve, if that's what's going on here.
