I remember a short story (maybe 50+ years ago) about an unstoppable Earth exploration party that lands on a planet where the inhabitants are intelligent but have no technology or tools. The aliens tell the earthlings that they will never leave and it turns out that after some time on the planet their metals start to disintegrate and they indeed become marooned. I think it was called "Shore Party" but maybe not, and I can't remember the author either. Help.

It's "Beachhead" by Clifford D. Simak. It's in several different anthologies, like PERILOUS PLANETS, edited by Brian Aldiss, BEACHHEADS IN SPACE, edited by August Derleth, and STRANGERS IN THE UNIVERSE, written wholly by Simak.

Thank you very much! I do believe that is the story! I will look it up and thanks again for the answer.

Simak is cool and underappreciated.
