Glad I could help. I loved the book when I was a kid, it was on my regular rotation list. I lost my copy back in ye day, so I can't say if the book aged well.

Thank you Tom.
I read the review and that is the book alright.

Good call, and yes it WAS a good read so many years ago.
I'll try to find it now and see how both of us have aged - LOL

Time of the Great Freeze

I remember that one... :) It was an awesome read.

Wow..what a good memory, Tom. I read that as a teenager when it came out in the 60s and had forgotten it.

But, I'm pretty sure you're right, since I found this site which specifically calls out it was caused by an interstellar dust cloud-->

It's probably "Time of the Great Freeze" (Silverberg) but it's been a very long time since I've read the book, so I'm not 100% sure on this one.

I read a book a long time ago about a dust cloud making its way through the solar system and diminishing sunlight enough to cause an ice age. Cities int he norther hemisphere have moved underground for generations. A young man and several others are expelled from their city and start a trek across the frozen world to see what has survived. The young man is a Judo Champion which serves him well in the adventures that follow.

I remember a great many things about the book, like herds of moose that survive by licking the algae that grows on the glaciers, but I cannot remember the name of the book.

Anyone recognize it?

Thank you
