Mountains are CAUSED by the movement of the tectonic plates. And these plates continue to move after the mountains. Nothing to test.

The plates never stop moving. With or without mountains there are still earthquakes. The plates are never 'anchored'. Mountains are part of the crust, not something external to it. There is no reason to think that they extend into the crust independently, the 'peg' idea doesn't make much sense.

the movements of the earth in the passages are more simple explained as the earthquakes themselves, not a 'divine' lesson in plate tectonics.

How do we test whether Mohammed knew about plate tectonics?

Charlie T. says:
"So, these verses are implying that:
1) The Earth, or land, moves and that this movement is anchored or stopped by mountains."

Which is scientifically wrong.

Some mountains are the result of two tectonic plates running into each other (like the Himalayas). Other mountains would "ride" on the top of the tectonic plates, hence the mountains are not "pegging" the plates down, hence the quotes given are scientifically false.
