Can I download kindle books in Costa Rica? I have heard that since they don't honor copy-write laws that I can't. Anybody know for sure? Thanks

Hey thanks! Thinking about getting a "Fire" since I hear "real" books in English are pretty expensive.

I have an older Kindle (version 2) with 3G but not Wifi. 3G is NOT available in San Jose, Costa Rica, but it is in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Amazon's 3G coverage map shows no coverage in Costa Rica. I have downloaded Kindle books to my PC in Costa Rica with no problems, so a Kindle using WiFi should be able to do so, too.

Thanks. I think my friend that told me I couldn't was mistaken. I don't think it's the copy-write laws, I think it's the 3G issue. I'm getting a new Fire with wifi so am hoping it does the job! There is 3G in CR but it's not everywhere. I supposedly can get it on my unlocked Android phone with the proper sim card. Guess I'll find out in March!
