REB - I'm from StJohn, Ks. Ian and REB what kind of stories do you write? I'd like to check them out. I read 24/7 since I retired - oh what a luxury that is:)

Hi All.
Look up Ian Hall; you'll see my stuff.
My 'big' published book is "Opportunities: Jamie Leith in Darien", a huge 600 page tome. Historical Fiction Adventure on the high seas 1700 style. (Scotland tries to colonize panama; don't laugh, it really happened.)
I also do Roman/Scottish, sci fi and horror.
Hey, REB, would be a hoot if we knew each other!

"Cant do hyperlinks, old boy. Not the done thing, you know." (done in an English ww2 wing commander voice)
So where in big T are you?

Just moved from 37th and Wanamaker out to Montarra. Our townhome approved our American Bulldog only to say they didn't know how big he was going to get 6 months later. So we chose our dog over a place in town. As I think anyone should. How about yourself mate?

Writing as I speak. Near the library. Been here for 12 years after leaving Scotland. Love it.

Ian Hall says:
Cool. So how many copies you sold then?

Posted on Jan 5, 2012 8:56:52 PM PST
REB says:
Not many so far, around 25 since second week of December, did a promo, gave away about 250 free copies. But oh well, hopefully I can start to build a readership as I work on a couple new ones.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 5, 2012 9:07:27 PM PST
Ian Hall says:
Yup. I did 48 paying copies in Dec at $2.99. Plus more of the 'published' book, those figures in later; every six months.
I'm working on 5 novels right now... spreading it thin.

Ian,
What part of Scotland are you from? We were there in September. Flew into London, rented a car and drove up to Dumphries, Newton-Stewart and Wigtown. Met another Ian, a distant relative in Newton-Stewart, a solicitor. We had a wonderful time there!

Wow, thats great man. How long has your book been out? How do you promote?

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 5, 2012 9:23:39 PM PST
Ian Hall says:
Hi Barbara. (Read my book..... waves fingers at you.... subliminal message)
I'm an Edinburgh guy. But when 11/12 we holidayed just outside Newton Stewart. Great fishing country. I know Dumfries well.
Now, in Topeka, loving the whole thing.
REB; Book out last sept, (2011) so no promotion so far. We sell renfest jewelry, so way too busy.

REB says:
I can understand being way to busy, I have a construction company and a Christmas light hanging business, so just now starting to get a break for a couple months...

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 5, 2012 9:30:15 PM PST
Ian Hall says:
I wish. Jan is good for jewelry, but I still manage 1000-2000 words every morning.

REB says:
I need to be more disciplined with my writing routine... Sporadic at best.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 5, 2012 9:36:50 PM PST
Ian Hall says:
I'm a writing machine right now. Doing three collaborations, plus three novels of my own. I write from 8-9am to 10-12am every single day. Like I said before, 1000-2000 every day. Best was 6000.

Kindle user in Manhattan, KS...discovered that although I'm an anthropologist, I have a huge flair for english lit and the Kindle was a necessity. Although I've been eyeballing that Fire for a little while..
