Hi krysjez,

Welcome to the Kindle family. Nothing bad should happen when you are registering your kindle to your amazon account.

Just make sure you take certain steps to avoid problems with buying kindle ebooks in SG. If you read my blog (http://www.desboo.com), the section on buying ebooks may look confusing. But once you have everything setup, the process is actually very simple. Just remember to check your ip address before you buy your ebook.

I'm confused. I thought through Amazon overseas channels were open to everyone. As a matter of fact I want to sell in London, Austrailia any everywhere they speak English. I assumed this was already handled. I came in through CreateSpace but my book is up on Amazon now, Old, Gay & Fabulous, a memoir. Ken Sofronski

Kenneth: Amazon distributes Kindle books with compliance to local laws and publishing agreements. If you establish a Singapore account, it will be considered a local purchase. However, you can get around any local restrictions by establishing a US based account even though you are using it in Singapore.

Hi. Thing is, when I use a vpost service where I register a US based or UK based account, Amazon doesn't allow the purchase through. I get asked whether I am travelling and to contact customer service. Help!

I'm afraid I don't understand anything about it. I came into Amazon through CreateSpace (self-published) and all of those channels are supposed to be open to me. I have only been up for 2 weeks anyway. I have sold two paperbacks and zero ebooks. My advertising starts today. I hope it works. By the way, I am not customer service. Amazon has something called Seller Central. Maybe you could start there. Ken Sofronski

I reside in Singapore but have a Hong Kong credit card as I used to live in HK some years back. I read on the internet that it is not possible to purchase Kindle and ebooks in Singapore. If I use my Hong Kong credit card and and Hong Kong address (I could pick it up in my biz trip), can I still download ebooks to Kindle tbrough amazon while I live in Singapore?

Kyaw Tun says:
the interesting thing is once, you put US/Japan/etc credit card to your account, you can buy kindle book by Singapore credit card.

Amazon is just making "legal" of its sell.

Hi, I am from Singapore but I didn't experience any problems buying ebooks online with my Singapore-issued credit card. However, I did change my ''Country'' to US though, in order to gain access to kindle ebooks purchase.

Anyway, if u r thinking of getting kindle in Singapore and not go through the hassle of using a 3rd party carrier, I got mine from a local importer kindlesupply.wordpress.com

I'm in Singapore but have a UK credit card and got mine through Amazon UK.

A US-based mail forwarding service perhaps? I haven't used it for Amazon products though.

why I can buy apps for iphone and I can't buy the same apps (many as free) in kindle ?
Why Amazon accept my international credit card to buy any product but i can "buy" a free and simple app ???

I have the new Kindle fire. I used the entropay solution (which gives you a virtual UK credit card) and I have no problem buying books. However, I can't purchase apps, music, etc. even the free ones. Somebody have a solution? Anybody know of a reliable and efficient virtual US credit card?

Got my Kindle Touch today. Had it delivered to a friend who came from New York. Used a Singapore credit card to ordered it.

Just picked up a few books now to test - Jeffrey Archer for 99 cents. I am impressed. Instant purchase with gift card payment. Worth every dollar spent. Can share/show my device to those who want to touch and feel.
