Lightening dark line above upper lip?

Any suggestions for lightening the "mustache" above my upper lip? I have tried skin lighteners but all they do is make my skin lighter but do nothing to lighten the dark line. Putting more makeup on just makes the line more noticeable. I know this is tied to hormones (I am 59) but have had this for years and hate it.

I had this issue years ago from tanning, and began using products with alpha hydroxy acids (higher concentrations, such as found in MD Forte products), after recommendation from a dermatologist. I had to work up to the 20-30% range but the 10% worked well for me for the darkening above the lip and for 'age' spots. I spent my late teens-20s in Caribbean sun, and believe the AHAs did much toward improving the texture and appearance of my skin over the last 15 years!

Hello dare i say this !!!..lol..but i was told by a pro that if i shaved my upper lip it would help with the dark hair issue , and also that it acts as an exfollient (gets rid of dead skin cells ) i must admit i do this and it works well for me as it also smooths my skin.. gd luck xxx

Is it the Microdermabrasion Crystal Cream? I didn't see the Advanced lightening creams.

Hi Karin my my stupidly indeed lol..well all i can say is that shaving works for me ,and i dont have to shave very often as it happens ,and i also save myself on buying the products for exfoliation as shaving removes the dead skin cells, anyway just joining in on friendly discussions for us buyers not trying to sell anything ..thx for the advise though i do think it is one,s personal choice to shave or wax .

I been using Anevess skin care lightening cream, it has fade my acne blemishes that i had on my back, shoulders and face. I highly recommend this product and the best part is that is Hydroquinone and paraben free.

I, too, have been searching high and low for years. I do happen to shave my upper lip, to no avail. Been doing it for years. I also have this problem under my lips AND in that little line between my bottom lip and the bottom of my chin. It's similar to the redness/darkness around the folds of my nostrils! I sound like I should be wearing a bag over my head!
Doesn't seem to resolve itself fro hydro quinine products which I refuse to use anymore.
As always, am grateful for anything !

Since I first posted this question I have tried so many different products, including hydro quinine. None of them have worked. I am now doing a profractional laser with a plastic surgeon. I just did my second treatment on 12-28-12. I think it looks lighter. Time and more treatments will tell if it works.
