I've been reading a lot of Bishop Spong's books, which seem to fit quite well with this theme. His thesis is that Christianity is bound to diminish as long as the fundamentalist, literalist interpretations hold sway. There are several writers who agree with him and who, I think, are presenting the case for pluralism, or at least inclusivism, to take the place of the exclusivist attitudes of those who want everyone to agree with their particular theology.

Spirituality is, as far as I can see, the first step toward such a universal pluralism. It liberates us from the concept that there must be one way only, one truth, one belief system, and that all others must then be "wrong" or "false". My thinking is that there are no "false" beliefs, that each of us, individually or in groups, are encouraged to find our own path, not necessarily following someone else's, but brushing out our own way and then encouraging others, by our example, to do the same for themselves.

Cold, the guy who wrote the article says that one cannot be a socialist and a Christian. Why do you think that is?

RL, a group of us have been studying the Ageless Wisdom teachings for many years, the esoteric underpinnings of all life as we know it, and have also wrestled with how to convey this understanding to others. In the Bible Jesus is reported to have taught his followers not to cast pearls before swine. In other words, there are many people who are simply not prepared to hear or practice these truths and they're best left to develop at their own pace. As you say, someday the "penny will drop", perhaps not in this incarnation, but someday.

The Soul, that creates each new personality, has a goal for that incarnation, and for many it's simply the development of a new quality, perhaps replacing anger and fear with compassion, brought about through difficult experiences - obviously there are thousands of scenarios that could be played out. What has worked for me is to see each individual as Soul, learning new lessons and having new experiences. What is that old saying by Teilhard do Chardin? "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience."

Receiving the Holy Spririt through accepting Jesus Christ, is when one is born-again, or born a second time or born of the Spirit. It is only then that are issues within us can be resolved, as He is the only One in us who can heal, deliver (from anger, unforgiveness, etc.) and continue to restore us, as He works in us to conform us to the image of Jesus. We have to want that , though, and let Him do it. This is done by us first laying down our own wills ( will power and doing what we want according to the old nature) and opening up to His work. It is a supernatural power at work; the redemption of our souls. And yes, I agree that when that happens internally, then part of what is meant by the Kingdom does come through us. For it is His Will operating through us, and His ways. It is not us doing it, nor can we succesfully. I mean, who can really change the wiring in their brain, if they have been traumatized in childhood? God can. In His Word, it says it's not good to deny His power. God, through His Holy Spirit, has helped me control my anger, is healing me continually from fear and jealousy, healed me of depression, and is opening my heart up to His unconditional love. These are heart issues that ony He knows deeply about in me, and only He can heal and make new.

My Inner reality is where I create my Outer reality...

So say I want something new in my life...

Everything that is currently in my life is there because these exist in my Inner reality, whether it is the people, my friends, my partners, my car or house....or job.
This Inner reality is sometimes refered to as the Astral Plane.
In the Tree of Life, the Astral Plane is on the sphere of Yesod.
Everything that exists in this reality, exists first in the Astral plane, and is then pulled from the Astral Plane into this reality.
If I want a new car or computer, or Job, then I need to go and create this in the Inner reality, the Astral Plane.
I would need to decide what exactly I want, how it must look or work, and then I must begin to imagine it as if it is real.
Once I have created this in the Astral plane, I can keep on revisiting it regularely, and by thinking about it, visualising it, or dreaming about it, I am working towards bringing it closer and closer into this reality.

I wanted a new leather sofa. I visited a few Sofa dealers and sat down in a few sofas to get the feeling of how it feels. I remember the feeling, and I took a brochure of the sofa so I can get a picture.
Then back at home I cut the picture out and stuck it on a wall. I looked at it everyday. I would dream about sitting in it, planned for where I must put it once I get it etc.

Then about 2 months ago I received a cheque in the post. This enabled me to go and shop for my new leather sofa.
Today I have this new sofa in my apartment. And I am thankful and I am blessed.

Tell us your stories of how you experience your spirituality? What good things are happening for you?

Its been a few months since I have posted anything here. And since life itself is a journey of lessons to be learnt, here is a brief summary of some of the things I had to rethink related to this world we live in.

Jesus teaches - Thy Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

The concept/principle here is taken from the Hermetic teachings - As above so below, as within, so without...on earth as it is in heaven.

The Hermetic teachings are that this reality we see as a physical Maniest reality is only 1-3% of our total reality. The other 97-99% of our total reality is in the Unmanifest, the unseen, the subconscious part of us.

This is something I have been pondering quite a bit.

And what is coming to me is that it is in this Unmanifest part of me that I create my Manifest outer reality. I create this reality by the things I think, the words I speak, the dreams I dream etc.

I then conclude the following. If my outer world is a mess, or in a state of chaos, it is because my Inner reality is in a chaotic state.

I know we dont live in a perfect world. Many people are unemployed, in a state of poverty, in undesired relationships etc....

How do we then sort our lives out? Are you all familiar with the Law of attraction form "The Secret"?

In order for me to sort out my messed up life, I have to go and dig deep within. Look at my emotional baggage. I need to resolve the emotional scars, the hurts, the bitterness, anger and resentments I have accumulated over the years, and forgive and release.

It is a form of spiritual House-cleaning.
I had to sit down and ponder all these hurts and scars. I would visualise each one a s a black balloon, with the issue written on it. Then I would release it and allow it to blow away with the wind.

Once it is gone I would allow myself to feel how it feels to be free from that issue/hurt.

I was contemplating Anger issues recently. How would I deal with a temper that is destructive in my reationships and my life?

I have to accept that within me there is Light as well as Darkness. I am capable of both Goodness as well as Evil. But my challenge lies in being able to control these forces for good within me.
What came to me was that I was to visualize my Anger/Temper as a Monster..Wild and destructive. Then I would speak to this monster and tell it that it is part of me, and we cannot live a good life while this monster is running amok. I cannot exist without it and it cannot exist without me. We have to agree to begin living and working together in harmony and peace and channel that anger into something that we can both benefit from. To continue allowing Anger to run wild, will just destroy not only itself but me too.

Therin lies a powerful Key - the Union of Opposits - Good and Evil/Darkness and Light/Masculine and Feminine energies within united as One...

And in embracing my own inner darkness lovingly, I unite these opposits in Me and I become One.

Jesus prays - Father Make us One just as YOU are One...

This is my prayer too - God make me One just as You are One...
In the Oneness of my duality - my two-fold existence, a new reality dawns for me that transcends this illusion of division and seperateness. This is a powerful way of living. It is Life as we are suppose to live it. In a state of Harmony within.

How do I tell those people in my life about this? Not everyone is ready to receive it. But at least they get to hear it, and hopefully one day the penny will drop...
