P.J. Hafner says:
Offering a new novel, "Stalk" (my first one, actually):

Back Cover: 'Lee Bodkin crafts and sells historic archery weapons: beautiful, deadly marvels of glistening woodwork. Business is booming, but his is not the only thriving enterprise on the outskirts of the bustling city. Contaminating the community is one very crafty, ruthless drug dealer, plying his trade to make the area a meth-addicted wasteland. He hates competition, and he hates Bodkin.

Unknown to the menace, Bodkin is not just a small business owner. He's a former world-class wrestler and current search-and-rescue the government unofficially hires as a seek-and-destroy tool. Bodkin long ago stacked the odds in his favor, partnering with biathlete and wilderness survival expert - and deadeye sniper - Gladdis Montrose. Add to the mix his loyal and ferocious dog Sheba, the trio makes a nearly unstoppable team.

But the team will soon be put to the test. Because in the surrounding countryside, both pets and people have been disappearing. And to Bodkin it soon becomes crystal clear: a new presence has arrived. Something big...and hungry.'

Take a look - thanks! In both print and Kindle formats. Stalk Stalk

Every year, some people go missing and are never found. The reverse is also true - every year, some bodies are found but they are never identified. Who were they? Where did they come from?

In my high stakes supense thriller, The Delta Chain ($2.99 Kindle) detective Adam Bennett investigates when the body of a young woman is washed ashore on a secluded beach. She has never been reported missing and an international search for clues provides no leads. It's as though she never existed.

Delving deeper, Adam discovers others- unknown drowning victims found along the coasts of two countries over two years. The trail leads Adam and IT troubleshooter Kate Kovacs through a maze of deceit and into an ever-deepening conspiracy, mixing murder and mystery with adventure and scientific intrigue.

Adam and Kate cannot be allowed to uncover and reveal the secret. They simply cannot be allowed to live...

Simon Wood says:
Recently, I've obtained the rights back to a number of my novels, so for the first time, my first thriller, Accidents Waiting to Happen, is available as an eBook.

Description: Accidents Waiting to Happen
Josh Michaels is worth more dead than alive. He just doesn't know it yet. He has no idea why someone would try to kill him, clearly that's exactly what happened. When an SUV forced Josh's car off the road and into a river, it might have been an accident. But when Josh looked up at the road, expecting to see the SUV's driver rushing to help him, all he saw was the driver watching him calmly...then giving him a "thumbs down" sign. That was merely the first attempt on Josh's life, all of them designed to look like accidents, and all of them very nearly fatal. With his time-and maybe his luck-running out and no one willing to believe him, Josh had better figure out who wants him dead and why...before it's too late.

Praise for Accidents Waiting to Happen:

"The pacing is spectacular and gets progressively faster as the reader nears the finale. An unqualified recommendation."
- Deadly Pleasures Mystery Magazine

"An impressive debut."
- Mystery Scene Magazine

"Simon Wood...delivers a suspenseful, brisk tale in his debut."
- South Florida Sun Sentinel

" Accidents Waiting to Happen is a briskly plotted thriller that uses point of view shifts better than any novel I've read in quite a while in his debut."
- CrimeSpree Magazine

I hope people will give it a look.

Hi everyone,
Taxed to Death (1st in Alex Bellamy Series)
Fatal Encryption (Alex Bellamy mystery)
Tax season is just about here, so to help put you in the right frame of mind (if there is such a thing), perhaps you'd enjoy a fun, quirky mystery in TAXED TO DEATH, when twenty-six-year-old auditor Alex Bellamy stumbles through his first crime solving exploits without really having a clue.

TAXED TO DEATH - Revenue Canada auditor, Alex Bellamy, has always dreamed of adventure. When he discovers evidence of fraud during a field audit and realizes that someone inside Revenue Canada might be involved, he thinks he's found it. He persuades his colleague, Andy, to help him investigate, but Andy is murdered and Alex is forced to turn to Jillian Scott, a lady he's never met, and who has her own frightening reasons for refusing to cooperate. Soon, Jillian's fears and Alex's search for a killer embroil them in a bizarre and disturbing nightmare not everyone will survive.

"TAXED TO DEATH is a superb mystery of plot twists and turns. A masterpiece of suspenseful storytelling." Jim Cox, Midwest Review

FATAL ENCRYPTION - Dressed as Kermit the Frog on Halloween night, an unemployed Alex Bellamy wonders where his life went wrong. It could be worse. A few miles away, Coquitlam resident, Zachary Ternoway, is stabbed at his front door. In need of cash, Alex agrees to help catch a computer prankster at McKinleys' Department Store. But things turn serious when someone vows to permanently encrypt the store's data and torch the building unless ten million dollars is handed over in two weeks. Alex knows there's a connection between the murder and the extortion threat, yet time's running out. People are questioning his competency, and a killer's threatening his life.

"FATAL ENCRYPTION is the type of book that makes you long for the next in the series as you approach the end - a page turner with more depth than most." Julie Ferguson, Author of Book Magic

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Developed Mystery, January 25, 2011
By Dan C. Boutwell (Burleson, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
The only disappointment with this book was the formatting. The Kindle edition lacked paragraphs. However, the text was so well written it was easy to follow. It would have definitely "felt" better had the formatting been correct.
However, the author did her job well. The story was well written and well developed. Even though the well seasoned mystery fan could guess the ending, it was not a definite reveal until the moment the author felt appropriate. What more could you ask for? I must admit I had a difficult time putting it down. In fact it was a rather quick read. But, that was not because it was simply written, but because it was so skillfully done.

One lost summer is time best left forgotten

When Minneapolis divorce attorney, Billie Fredrickson, inherits her uncle's small California winery, she has no intention of actually moving to the west coast and starting a new life. Her only thought is to get it off her hands as quickly as possible. But her return to the winery after an absence of twenty years opens up more than the reading of her uncle's will. Childhood memories, long-buried, begin to surface, prompting more questions than anyone is able or willing to answer.
A late night prowler, a break-in at the winery, and an unearthed box of shocking photographs is someone's way of pulling the Welcome mat out from under Billie's feet, but it only makes her dig her heels in deeper.
More secrets lie buried beneath Fredrickson Winery's innocent facade and Billie intends to get to the root. But disturbing the past lays bare the skeletons of others, including her mother's. Can she live with the consequences of full disclosure or will she run home where everyone is Minnesota Nice?

I hope you'll check out Entangled! The sequel, "Crushed," will be out in March!

Hi. My name is Michele Scott and I write the bestselling Nikki Sands' mysteries aka The Wine Lover's Mysteries. I also write the Michaela Bancroft Mysteries, which are currently available on Kindle for 99 CENTS! "Saddled with Trouble," is the first in the Michaela Bancroft series. Here is a brief blurb:

Trainer Michaela Bancroft has worked hard to make it in the man's world of training and showing quarter horses. After her husband leaves her for a twenty-two-year-old rodeo queen, she's left with a broken heart and mounting debts. Then death strikes and Michaela is suddenly...Saddled With Trouble. Michaela is trying to rein in her life when she finds her Uncle Lou murdered in his prize stallion's stall. As she fends off debt collectors--and her ex-husband's renewed interest in her--Michaela begins to suspect that the killer may be someone close to her. When she's nearly run off the road the night after her uncle's funeral, Michaela is convinced she's on the fast track to becoming the next victim.

The series continues with "Death Reins In," and "Tacked to Death." I am currently working on the fourth book in the series along with a few other projects. I currently have a handful of my mysteries, thrillers and family sagas available for the 99 cent price. I hope you will check them out!

Blood & Ashes: The Debut Oscar Jade Thriller! - Paperback
Blood & Ashes: The Debut Oscar Jade Thriller! - Only $2.99 on Kindle!

THIRTEEN 5-star reviews...check it out, and take the ride!

Welcome to Miami Beach, December 1941...

"Jade's right hand went to the butt of his holstered Smith & Wesson. `Easy does it, pal. If I were here to kill you, you'd be dead already. And if you pull anything funny out of that desk, I will kill you. I'll explain it all to the cops, and tell your wife she doesn't have to worry about you anymore...and then I'll sleep like a baby.'" - Blood & Ashes, Chapter 4

Oscar Jade is a cynical, down-on-his-luck private detective-with a mysterious past and an uncertain future-who lives and works out of the beachfront Pelican Bar & Grill, where he's behind in his rent on the one-room apartment upstairs. When a good-looking dame hires him to protect her from her husband, Jade must wind his way through a maze of lies, half-truths and betrayals-a sordid minefield of other peoples' mistakes and misdeeds, where one sin builds upon another and somebody down the line, one way or another, ends up getting stuck with the bill. Soon Jade finds himself up against a mob boss with a lethal reputation, squarely in the middle of a deadly no-holds-barred conflict between two rival factions of a New York crime syndicate...

"...Flashing red police lights danced across the brickwork, and men in uniforms kept an expanding semicircle of gawkers at a distance. Sudden death has a way of drawing an audience, like a traveling sideshow. Nobody wants to be the dog-faced boy, but everybody wants a look at one. It was the same way with dead bodies." - Blood & Ashes, Chapter 14

Blood & Ashes is an old-fashioned, hardboiled `private eye' story; hearkening back to the heyday of Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler and Mickey Spillane-a world of cigarettes and booze, heavies and anti-heroes, victims and femme fatales...a world before DNA testing, cell phones and the internet, when a gumshoe's toolbox was limited to shifty street contacts, his skills and his nerve-and, when the time came, the gun in his hand. The story is set on the sun-drenched streets of Miami Beach-playground for the rich, the famous and the notorious-a place where it seems everyone has come to escape something...but sometimes, the past can't forget, and it won't let go. Sometimes it follows you, no matter how far you run-and when you can't run need to hire Oscar Jade.

"...You need to get all these stupid ideas out of your head, about how you're gonna be tough guys and not give anything up, 'cause we're not having a picnic, and I'm not gonna to be playing shuffleboard with you here. You're out in the middle of nowhere. Nobody's gonna hear you screaming, or crying, or praying to God. The cops aren't coming to rescue you. This is old country − things have been dying out here for a long, long time, and there's no funerals, or write-ups in the paper. It just gets covered up, and forgotten. You'll be gone, just like the dinosaurs..." - Blood & Ashes, Chapter 19

"Welcome Oscar Jade, and his equally enigmatic creator, Mark Loeffelholz; here are two studs who share in that wonderfully American crime fiction spirit − hell, that American literary spirit: the impulse to enjoy soaking confessions in the dirty pool of high-minded morality, and then hanging those suckers out to dry for all the neighbors to see. I'm cannon-balling back into Blood & Ashes for a second read...just for the fun of it." - John Hospodka, author of South Side Trilogy (

Classic, retro-style crime noir-infused with breathless, high-octane violent action-Blood & Ashes will leave you `Jaded'...and wanting more.

The Hate is a 5000 word short story about revenge. Included with this is a second 3000 word short story about the murder of the president.
Also, a question. The Hate won't come up on a search for the title, just the author. Anyone know why?

A local gas station manager has what he claims is proof that ghosts exist. Surveillance cameras at the ANC Gas N Pass at the Semoran exit off I-4 captured the photo. The manager, who declined to be identified for this article, claims the camera was operating perfectly and the lens was clean. Skeptics, such as area local Burt Savoy, from the fact-finding group "Truth From Fiction," aren't impressed. "This is a still photo," Savoy said in our interview. "This is the easiest evidence to doctor. I don't believe this or any other so-called proof that suggests that section of highway is haunted." Mister Savoy is referring to reports of ghostly figures standing alongside the interstate near this gas station . . . .

Are you in the market for a mystery/thriller that isn't wall-to-wall action? One that is instead an entertaining, thoughtful, AND intelligently-written read? Then my first novel The Steel Deal is sure to please. It is a Hitchcock-style story that brims with the banter of Butch Cassidy; the ironic action of Bond; Tom Clancy-like insight; and the gritty, old school wit of Bogart and Bacall.

It is the tale of Sonny Busco: a transplanted P.I. entering the latter stages of life...broke. That is until he gets a case packed with earth-shaking potetntial. And with it, a new gun, a new car, and a new outlook on how the world really works.

At stake: A revolutionary alloy called sentient steel.
The plan: To deliver it safely to Santa Fe, NM for $2,500 cash.
The man: Sonny Busco.
The problem: Sneaking the steel past a whirlwind of wicked men and women in black who want the goods--and Sonny--out of the way.

See if Sonny Busco can save the day. Pick up The Steel Deal and buckle-in for an off-beat ride on the edge of mystery, adventure, romance, and sci-fi.

NEW COVER for BOBBY'S TRACE (120 pages) Revised and expanded for 2010

The real Bobby's eyes drew the world to his soul, so when he left us at age 19, his trace lingered , and thus I write:

Bobby's eyes drew the world to his soul. No one could resist them. They winked and flirted with everyone he saw. He underscored this with a smile that blossomed to sunshine whenever he observed his fellow man, which he did often, cataloging them by size and weight and humor. Would they be interesting conversationalists? Would they feign glory and evict truth? Were they good in bed? No matter how those eyes scanned and measured, they enchanted wherever they glanced, an army falling game to Bobby's peepers despite his too-short time.

Rainbow Reviews say: "A subtle and wry humor never detracts from the intensity of the characterizations, which rather unfold like the peeling of an onion to reveal unexpected layers and depths. The characters belong in the category of "more here than meets the eye at first" and indeed, so does this story, which left me happy I had chosen to read it." - Rainbow Reviews.

Do ghosts mourn the living? Perry Chaplin is in mourning for his life partner, Bobby - a time of stress, notwithstanding. The more he drifts, the more he becomes unhinged until he's one room short of a rubber one. "Get a grip, Perry." So he takes his chances on a blind date, which further plunges him along the nightmare highway. He gets an unsought lesson in life-after-death that turns his bereavement into a horrific adventure. Come peek through Perry Chaplin's mysterious window. See what there is to see. Enter Our Lady of Perpetual Grace, where the holy water boils and the confessionals whisper. What lurks in the rectory's attic? What lies beneath the surface of life and death? What comes in Bobby's - in Bobby's trace? Do ghosts mourn the living? Perry Chaplin knows. Will you?

We all see the tear in the curtain between the worlds when the twilight shifts the evening mists to the horizon.
Also available in paperback - Bobby's Trace - Paperback. And at Barnes & Noble, on the Nook, the Apple iad, Sony eBook Reader, at Kobobooks, Dieselbooks, and in many accessible formats at

Great reviews at 5-stars
Referred to as a page turner, suspenseful, thrilling, emotional, unpredictable, thought provoking.

Kera and Rand Priven must journey 2,500 miles across their country, trying desperately to find and protect their children. It is good they cannot foresee the horrors before them.

In a troubled marriage, the Privens live with their children, Andrew and Alissa, in New York City. As an up-and-coming fashion photographer, Rand is obsessed with making a name, and a lot of money-to the point of neglecting his family. Kera slips into a frustrated and lonely disillusionment; she yearns for a simpler more meaningful family life. Planning to confront and possibly divorce Rand, she sends the children to a respected summer camp. Her timing couldn't be worse.

Shocking events unfold as independent groups plotting against the United States successfully breach national security, attack military installations, and wreak havoc on public infrastructure: the system breaks down. All services stop... no lights, no flights, no food, no gas... nothing. Law enforcement and armed forces seem unable to contain this terrorism or... revolution. Lawlessness spreads, seemingly overnight.

What chance do these two average, unprepared, and conflicted people have for surviving such a hostile situation? Will the challenge pull them together or rip them further apart? Who will they meet on their journey across America? What will they learn? Will they ever see their children again?

My suspense thriller DEADLINE is now available on Kindle for 99 cents for a limited time.

A serial killer --The Wolfman --prowls the streets of Toronto kidnapping young professional women, then targets crime reporter Katie Cannon who has been writing about his rampage. Trevor Trevanian, a foreign correspondent in Afghanistan, is abducted by al-Qaida and taken on a perilous journey to Pakistan to face an uncertain fate. Deadline combines murder, action and romance with a glimpse into the world of big city media. This thriller, set over a 24-hour period in a fictional Toronto newspaper --the Daily Express -- follows four central characters in Toronto and Afghanistan as they cope with both personal and professional deadlines in their lives.
