I had purchased a textbook, and with the exception of a few highlighted phrases in a couple of chapters, it's still like new. Does highlighted marks count as being damaged, or can I still trade it im?

its not damaged, just downgrades the condition from excellent to very good, or very good to good, etc.

I have an unused/unopened access code that usually goes with a new textbook, is this worth anything?

Can I send back books ordered from Amazon that are not textbooks? Novels and fiction?

Sometimes. If you bought it here you can sell it back, but they only pay pennies on the dollar.
