Will books be accepted if name of owner or previous shop is printed on inside cover?

You can erase/cover the name with Wite-Out.

I have received many books with the owners name in them. I think that means Amazon accepts them.

One would only mean the other if the books you bought were directly from Amazon itself, not via third-parties in the marketplace or whatever. Since Amazon itself only sells new titles (they seem to have a separate used division in the marketplace, but it's aparently a separate entity), that's a bit unlikely. Amazon itself isn't even generally the company ultimately receiving and purchasing the trade-in titles. The program is a partnership with third-parties.

Generally, trade-in books are supposed to be free of names and other personalizations. I've never tried it, as I don't tend to write in my books, but I'd think that Billy's suggestion should be perfectly valid, or other types of erasing.
