Ubiquitin says:
Far at sea, San Avellino Island has been many things - a slave plantation, a grand resort, home to history's most innovative medical research and its deadliest biological hazard. Now it is a prison for trapped researcher Nick LeMay, one of the first to see the island after a half century of quarantine. Deep within its ocean caves, a mysterious force reaches out to Nick, its power stretching across time and space to engage him in a battle for his freedom and the fate of those he holds most dear.

The Benefactor (Five Star Mystery Series)

"A thriller Hitchcock would have approved of." - Mystery Scene magazine.

"The Benefactor," published last year in hardcover, is now available for the Kindle.

Brief synopsis: A young widow discovers her husband's accidental death is the latest in a series of murders-for-profit reaching back a decade.

The Day Time was Hacked By Sacramento Book Review

The story is tight and well crafted. The consistent changes in place, time, and alternate history stay understandable and not unmanageable. The characters are well rounded with interesting personalities. There was obviously a great deal of research done in The Day Time Was Hacked, from the history of the Church, Popes, the Vatican to reasonably thought-out theories of time travel. And while the science fiction aspects of the story are instrumental to it, this is still more a thriller than science fiction.

Any book by Wilbur Smith is great. He is a South African writer and besides being impressive thriller stories, there is a lot of real history in them too. So you could call them historical novels maybe? Anyway, they are extremely well written and our family highly recommends them.

If you have not seen it, you'd be surprised at how good WAIT UNTIL DARK is. Audrey Hepburn, and the almost un-recognizable, young, vicious, Alan Arkin. A thriller well worth watching, very exciting, and viewable free on youtube (in ten minute increments---works well with this film).

Jeff Sekerak says:
THE EMPTY TRAP The Empty Trap, by John D. Macdonald, is one of the great 150 page-or-less thrillers of all time. Man falls in love with wife of VICIOUS hotel chain owner. Man gets assaulted by employees of said hotel chain owner. And the rest is far too great to reveal here.

One of the greatest revenge tales ever told.

This book MUST be read.

Jim Harrison's story 'Revenge' (on which the Costner film is based) is nowhere near the work of J. Macdonald, in my opinion, in THE EMPTY TRAP.

Buy it. You will not regret it.

On the top of the lists now, is the trilogy by Stieg Larsson, the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Played with Fire, And Kicked the Hornets Nest
They are excellent too. Total fiction, no historical value, but lots of technical fun, and action. They can bog down with details, but we can deal with that, as its all important to the story.
