Go to meet our authors. This is nothing but thinly-veiled self promo. Writers who can't or won't read are not attractive to intelligent readers. Amazon has had a "no self promo" rule since May of last year.

Amazon has instituted a no self promotion rule except in the Meet Our Authors forum, that's what Ginmar was referring to. This thread is just what Ginmar said it is, thinly veiled self promotion and it's against Amazon's rules.

Serafirma There has been a lot written about self promo lately on the boards.
Not only is it disliked by reader's but it is against amazon's TOS
People come here to find/discuss books by fellow readers
You are self promoting and you really need to take your post to the MOA

Well, it's nice to have independent confirmation. You didn't read what you signed, did you?

Serafima
Read your own OP
1/ you have spoken of your own work
2/ Your OP is asking authors - therefore it should go to the MOA
3/ these are Amazon's rules - The MOA was specifically made for authors to discuss their work

I am also an avid reader
I also make it a point to never purchase a book that has been self promoted in any shape or form - I only buy books that have been recommended by readers whose recommendations I trust.

I would rather spend my time and money supporting those authors who operate within Amazon's guidelines......after all it is their site and their rules

You protest too much---and too obviously.

ginmar says:
It doesn't matter what you think. It matters what AMAZON thinks, and you're self promoting. Also, insulting readers is NOT a good way to sell books.

Duh.

Fancy you having the same name as the authors ....thats an incredible coincidence....
You need to take your self rec to the MOA
Readers are by no means stupid and can tell self promotion and fake reviews a mile off

Oh, for Pete's sake.

This is Amazon's site. They have rules. You are violating those rules. Those rules are for the benefit of readers, to whom you want to sell your....output. You are so unaware of how the site works that you can't even figure out that the comment you're referring to does not address YOU.
