Anyone ever report a lower price to Amazon?

I think that has been there like forever but who sees it at the end of the page? I rarely venture so far
down the page. I have reported mistakes on the product page using one of those links.

I typically like to buy from Amazon as I am a prime member and the prime eligible packages consistently arrive two days later at lunch time via UPS.

But, Amazon often has far from the best price on many things. I've reported dozens of lower prices for products over the years (yes the link has been there for a while) nothing ever happened. I typically buy small electronics, computer hardware/peripherals and accessories (up to lets say $500), and I have never seen the price adjusted in the next few days or following week.

I have seen Amazon prices in some cases anywhere from $5 to $100 and from 5% to 100% higher - even for something that Amazon resells themselves (not 3rd party marketplace). Even after factoring shipping, as and if needed, since some other retailers do offer free ground shipping. Since I like the convenience of one click shopping and prime shipping I give Amazon the feedback about the competitive price at reputable site x.

Case in point, I am looking for a name brand phone signal repeater today. Amazon sells it for $50, which is $15 above manufacturer's MSRP with free shipping. Fry's 24.95 with 3.99 shipping. It does not make sense to me why it is $50 at Amazon. So it pays to shop around and balance 2 day prime shipping, vs free ground with other merchants, etc.

I've written a couple comment letters to Amazon asking how they can be a reseller for brand x with prices above that of smaller mainstream / reputable vendors ( Fry's, J and R, B and H, ...) but only received canned responses.

Anyway, unfortunately Amazon doesn't always have the best price and I personally have never seen Amazon respond to my lower price feedback with a lower product price. All I see is some small variations in product prices of things that are saved for later or in the wish list.

Totally agree - Amazon is just another venue. Gotta price compare. The only thing that defies value is my patience at Christmas time for parking and crowds. Amazon gets my business almost by default then :P

Otherwise, it's always a total cost I compare. Amazon might have one item, offered by many sellers, some of them Prime eligible. This is true for most things I buy here.

The Prime prices are almost universally higher than the non Prime price. Provided that the total cost is lower, sometimes I don't take the Prime eligible offering.

There have been a couple of times when I was like, "Really, Amazon?" and bought it from Newegg with my preferred customer account, which often gets me free shipping, or a free upgrade to expedited shipping in addition to the lower total cost.

Edit - yes, I have used the link to tell Amazon about a lower price, but I can't say that the price here ever changed. A great many reviews will (while not naming the price - I think it gets stripped out) note that an item being reviewed was purchased at XYZ for much cheaper.

I did. More or less for the heck of it to see what would happen. I responded in regard to a rather pricey item ($190) that I found for sale from another retailer for something like $25 less. In my response I included link to the item and seller. I hit submit, my response went into the ether and I never heard a peep from Amazon.
