Since when did Settlers of Catan become such a big game? I had never heard of it until a couple of weeks ago and now it's everywhere! There's like 20 different versions of the game, you can play it online, and there are even Catan soundtracks on youtube you can listen to while you play the game. If you haven't started playing, I suggest you do. It's great.

It's really addictive. A friend introduced me to it a few years ago, and about a week later the Xbox live arcade version was released. I've played it to death.

Check out the Geek and Sundry channel on Youtube... Specifically the episodes of TableTop. Settlers was one of the first games featured on the show :-)

Believe it or not, Catan's been around since 1996. It's only in the past few years that designer games like Setters, Carcassonne, and Ticket to Ride have been appearing in big box stores, which is why it seems like they've shown up out of nowhere. There's a whole world of games out there when you start looking beyond the mass market... enjoy!

The game has been available for more than 15 years. I have an earlier German version: Die Siedler Von Catan which has much nicer components and travel bags to carry it in when you travel.

Its my all time favorite game, I have been playing it for over 10 years. There are many versions of this game that I haven't seen available for along time. There are even some 2 player ones.
