I had a toy set in about 1978. It was a construction-making toy which you could use to make cars, trucks etc by the means of the gun-shaped tool.

The tool was gun-shaped (?!), and onto the end of this you placed black/blue rubber bullet-shaped rivets and released them into the holes of the pieces/wheels you wanted to attach in order to make your model.

Anyone recall this toy set & name?

I found a patent for this toy, at least I would think it has to be this toy, but can't find a name for it.

We still own the rivitron! Loved it as a kid! My mom told me it was recalled but that we liked it so much she wasn't returning it. I guess little kids choked on the rubber connectors. I know I always had fun squeezing them and sticking them on my tongue or forhead to be goofy. I don't think I'd let my kids play with my set though until they were older!

LOL... "I had this game as a child, you'd throw these heavy projectiles in the air as far as you could, they looked like darts but were much bigger and you could sharpen the ends. You usually played on the lawn... as I remember grandma moved pretty quick for cover when we brought them out on 4th of July."

"Umm, those were recalled...."

(lawn darts have been banned by the CPSC in the US and Canada since 1988. At least 3 deaths were blamed on them. It is a federal crime to sell, resell or import lawn darts. It's a wonder they ever sold them at all, as dangerous as the concept is)
