If you have Amazon Prime, this is a great series. Even if you don't. It ran for 4 years. Its getting great ratings. So, there's about 30 plus sessions. It has drama, humor and something for everyone. Great characters. We liked it as much as Downton Abbey if not better. Lark Rise is set in the British Countryside and it's about people that aren't wealthy. It's entirely different than Downton. Polar opposites but they are both great.

My family rented it this summer. Agree that it's a great show.

Bill King says:
Saw them all. The 3 book they are based on are a good read. Lark Rise in 1939, Over to Candleford in 1941 and Candleford Green. The first book is not linear but divided into subjects: the cottages and daily housekeeping, the traveling salesmen that came to the village, the tall tales told by the field hands, working in the fields employment opportunities for all the boys, service employment opportunities for all the girls. Few escaped one of those futures which is why Laura working for the postal service was rather amazing come comeuppance in the world. This new world is her fourth novel Heatherley, is her later grown up career in the post office which was not considered as good, and this 4th was only published after Flora Thompson ('Laura') died.
