I can't believe no one mentioned Arrested Development! (agree with Pushing Daisies as well!!)

Journeyman - great show, even if it was a Quantum Leap ripoff.
Drive - sounded stupid, but was surprisingly interesting... for all 4 shows.
Star Trek : Enterprise - never really developed, but I still liked it.
Bionic Woman - kind of silly, but Smallville is still going strong.
Now and Again -Fantastic show. Must have been too smart for normal viewers.
Push, Nevada
Deadwood - needed closure. There was talk of an HBO movie, but it's pretty much dead now.
Lone Gunman
Keen Eddie - I loved this show.

And I'll add my vote to Firefly, Reaper, Pushing Daisies, Brimstone and Carnivale.

Arrested Development. It was just a little ahead of its time. The success of 30 Rock shows this type of fast, witty humor can attract a great audience if the network actually markets it.

Firefly
Arrested Development
Deadwood

These have all been mentioned, but would easily be my top shows that fall in this category.

By the way, LMarie...I'm not so sure that AD was "ahead of its time." It was poorly marketed, no doubt. As an aside, I think 30 Rock pales in comparison.

1. Firefly - One of the best TV shows ever...and I don't like Sci-Fi...Even before my 81 year old mother passed away she watched and loved it.

2. Freaks & Geeks - And look what this show has spawned off with....I never thought there'd be a better "coming of age" show than Wonder Years...But this is it.

I have to agree with Veronica Mars. It was axed when the WB merged with another channel to become the CW. :(

Caught it on the SciFi channel once. It had Parker Stevenson and was fabulous!

Women's Murder Club

Definitely agree with Firefly, Deadwood, Carnivale, Dead Like Me and Earth2!! Completely forgot about Earth2.

Writer's strike hurt a lot of shows, as does when they start swapping their nights around and their times. Honestly believe that's why Women's Murder Club and Sarah Connor Chronicles both ended up not lasting. WMC more for the strike then when it came back they went from Friday night too... Tuesday, I think!! GWWWW Jerks.

Definitely Firefly, Dead Like Me, and Wonderfalls but also:

Space: Above and Beyond
Crusade
The Magician (I always loved Bill Bixby)
John Doe
Early Edition? Or did that last longer?
Tenspeed and Brownshoe (with Ben Vereen and Jeff Goldblum)
Millenium
The Adventures of Brisco County Jr

I love Firefly.

Crusade (the Babylon 5 spin-off) I wish had lasted longer, too.

I think someone mentioned Lost in Space, too (I don't know how many seasons it had). It was WAY before my time...but I caught many episodes on the Sci-Fi channel back in the 90s. It was cheesy and old, and some of it was in black and white, but I loved it.

EDIT: Also, Space: Above and Beyond was an awesome show. That's one I could've watched for years.

I'm definitely going to have to agree with "Firefly" as the top pick. I didn't even bother with it until after it was cancelled and now I'd give anything to have it back on and continuing the character development and dry, witty humor that made it so incredible.

As for some others that haven't made the 3-season-or-less mark yet, I really enjoyed Joss Whedon's new "Dollhouse". It could easily become a long-running, popular show...
