Visit the paranormal community, they have a great thread--Authors list... It is an excellent way to see what authors have vampire series. A few of my current favorites are: Christine Feehan/ Dark series, Lynn Viehl/ Darkyn series, Susan Sizemore/ Prime series, JR Ward/ Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Jeaniene Frost/ Night Huntress series, and Lara Adrian/ Midnight Breed series.

you can check out the reviews and see what fit's your tastes.
Good Luck and Happy Reading ;)

If you like YA, try the Vampire Academy series and the House of Night series.

You might also try Karen E. Taylor's Vampire Legacy series, as well as Tanya Huff's Blood Books. Taylor's books can be hard to find, but worth the effort!

Annie says:
Perhaps: Kresley Cole (Immortals series), Susan Sizemore (Primes series), J R Ward (the Brotherhood series), Sherrilyn Kenyon (Dark Hunters series)... I'd also suggest Susan Krinard (Historic Werewolf series) although they don't feature vampires.
If you'd consider YA series: L J Smith (Night World series, Vampire Diaries series), Annette Curtis Klause (Blood and Chocolate - werewolves only), Kristin Cast (House of Night series).
Check out my YA blog for more ideas: http://thesavvybookblog.blogspot.com/
Hope this helped. :)

P.S. Everyone's made you some great suggestions - you should have plenty to go on! Good luck!

If you are looking for something more along the lines of romantic comedy when it comes to vampires then you should try Lynsay Sands' Argeneau vampire series. The first book published was Single White Vampire (though not actually the first in the series, that was a publisher's decision, see author's website for actual order). Single White Vampire is about about Lucern Argeneau who writes history books that are very well received for their authenticity. Just like he was really there! *grin* He writes two novels that he considers "family history" but his editor publishes them as "paranormal romances". He becomes incredibly popular and his new editor keeps trying by mail to get him to consider book tours, or interviews. He just keeps sending back the same one word reply, "No". *grin* She finally visits him in person and just won't leave him alone. It's incredibly funny what happens as he just tries to get her to leave him alone long enough to drink a bag of blood. She causes him to smash his head on the top part of the refrigerator when he is bent over inside of it. She thinks all of the blood is from a cut on top of his head and is fussing over him and all he can think of is how his dinner is wasted and why won't she just go away! There's more but I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone who reads it. *grin* Between her and his mother (who plays matchmaker in many of the first books in the series) he ends up getting conned into attending a Romance Writers Convention. Lynsay Sands, the author, also writes historical novels which are sometimes described as "hystericals" because they are just so funny at times. It's kind of her trademark.

Her vampires are based in science rather than magic. They used to live in Atlantis which was very technologically advanced. Some people had "nanos" injected into their bloodstream which were supposed to fight disease and repair damage and then get flushed out of their systems. But since the body is always being damaged by the sun, aging, etc. this never occured and you ended up with youthful, healthy immortals. The nanos used blood to do these things and so the people needed blood transfusions on a daily basis. However, when Atlantis fell the immortals who survived found themselves in a primitive society with no access to transfusions. The nanos modified them and they ended up with retractable canines that allowed them to feed on normal humans and mind control abilities that allowed them to erase the memory of it. Exposure to sunlight makes them need more blood to heal the the sun damage, so they avoid it.

The many years of living alone or taking mates that you can control like puppets if you wanted, or watching your loved one die can cause an immortal to turn "rogue" so the one thing that most immortals search for is their "lifemate". This is the rare human that you cannot control and who seems designed to be your perfect partner. And each immortal is allowed one "turn" or the creation of another vampire so this is usually used to turn your lifemate. Losing your lifemate or having them refuse to be "turned" (religious reasons or fear) can also cause a vampire to go "rogue" so there is a group of immortals whose job is to track down these rogues. The last two books in the series have turned the focus from the Argeneau family to this group. The first one was released this fall and the title is The Rogue Hunter and the next comes out at the end of this month and is titled The Immortal Hunter.

Visit her website for excerpts for most of the books plus she pops in now and then to visit and answer questions. Plus she occasionally drops a hint about future books. www.LynsaySands.net

Don't forget to check out P. N. Elrod's Vampire Files series!!!! She's got two VERY strong vampire protagonists who each have a whole series. I LOVE the Jack Fleming books, about a crime writer in the 1930s who gets turned into a vamp and teams up with a private detective in Al Capone's Chicago. History, the Mob, and wonderful vampire adventures combine to create a geniune TREAT! I hear she's got a new Jack Fleming coming out this year, and that's GREAT news!

For real grown up, sexy and erotic books, try Jeaniene Frost's Halfway to the Grave, One Foot in the Grave (hottest sex scene I have ever read), At Grave's End and we are awaiting Destined for an early grave. Try Midnight Breed Series, Kresley Coles Immortal series, Gena Showalters Lords of the Underworld, and one of my favorites is Larissa Ione's Demonica series with three books and each one is about a different brother. These are awesome and I love, love, love them all.

Hi Vamp reader! My name is Shera Robison and I'm the author of Realms and Land of Ash. My vamp series is different as it is based on the chaotic world of a vamp-angel hybrid that has just begun her metamorphosis. You get to experience all the changes she endures and all while she's trying to find herself and claim her birthright. Here's a short blurb and some excerpts.

Eva Gray-Faine has just found out that she's an Angelus Vampiric and changing species is the least of her problems. Eva will have to fight for her life and for the strange love that has taken refuge within it. In Realms, the first book of the Angelic Vampire Series, Eva is a normal teenager with a normal boring life. That was until she turned eighteen and found out her life was just a façade. Not only is she not a normal teenager, she's not even human. With all three realms seeking to destroy her and her bloodline, she has to find a way to complete her phasing into a full blown vampiric angel without getting killed first. Things become even more problematic when a human boy falls in love with Eva. Finding out her secret won't be the worst of Max's problems. Those will come later when he too becomes guilty by association and sentenced to death. If The Council of Novena decides to let Eva live, it is the others that the realms shadow, who will think otherwise. She could fight off each of the three realms, but could she do it while her body betrayed her?

- excerpt from "Realms" of when Eva discovers her element- "I awoke with my sheets clinging to me. My body was burning, so feverish that beads of sweat were stinging my eyes as they relentlessly rolled towards my chin. I filled my lungs with a deep pool of air and began to chant to myself... Calm down, this is perfectly normal for any newly phasing hybrid. My ignorant attempt would soon prove to be impotent. My head was frantic and my body was tight, my throat dry, my eyes burning. I decided to lie back down regardless of the mass amounts of sweat that doused the sheets beneath me. I threw the covers over the edge of the bed and pulled my knees up to my chin. The heat radiating from my arms only multiplied as they wrapped warily around my folded legs. I safely tucked myself into a secure fetal position and closed my eyes."

- excerpt from "Realms" when Eva meets Merrick for the first time - "The meadow was nearly awash with death and destruction, as I watched in horror, a velveteen voice called to me from the far distance. I dare not cross over the steady traveling darkness for fear of what would become of me. My eyes were widened and still; only flinching at my feeble attempts to cure me of the maniacal screams.
Then out of the blowing ash I could see something, someone crossing the unfurling death, just as I had refused not to. I could make out nothing more than a blurry outline before me as it traveled towards where I stood frightened. Bit by bit, like a picture coming into focus.
He was beautiful. I gasped as his skin, a blue reflective tone that caught the eye as soon as he moved. His sway was almost melodic, one foot creating a note that complimented the other in harmony. He truly was the most beautiful creature, stunning as my eyes felt guilty for adjusting my gaze to keep a steady watch.
I pressed my lips together to wane any unwanted sounds that would disturb his harmonious gait. As he pushed through the ash it billowed around him in an artistic swirl, the swirls drew back behind him to release an imperial blue flame. The fire licked its surroundings and took hold, creating a flickering blaze where the lush meadow once stood."

It's available on kindle today and print by the end of next week. =)

Hi - I'm Melanie Nowak :-)
Wow - thanks for the mention Sharon! I'm so glad you enjoyed my "Almost Human" series!
As an independently published author, I have no formal advertising and rely on my work to speak for itself. Word-of-mouth through readers who enjoy the series is what has given my books the success that they have been blessed with so far. I am very grateful for readers who love the series enough to recommend it to others. Thank you!!!

I'm assuming you read it on Kindle. I wanted to let people know that all 3 books for the series also just came out in print! The first title for the series is Fatal Infatuation and can be found here:

Fatal Infatuation: Almost Human

Because the print versions were just released, there aren't many reviews on them yet. Anyone interested in learning more about the series can read full descriptions and many reviews on the Kindle 3 in 1 set page here:

Almost Human ~ The First Trilogy ~ 3-in-1 Bundle

Thanks for your consideration! ~ Melanie

Jennifer Turner's Eternal Seduction - a new series with Eternal Hearts out later this year. She has whole series planned. You might like Amelia Elias also. Hers are Chosen, Outcast, and Hunted. I'm a major fan of BDB, along with Lynn Viehl's Darkyn, and Kresley Cole IAD series.
