I read Twilight and I honestly thought it had a promising storyline, however, the sequel and Eclipse was disappointing. Bella got annoying. i've read better Vampire fiction. Stephanie Meyer has a lot more to learn from L.J. Smith's writing and books. L.J. Smith always manages to satisfy the readers expectations and know where to lead her readers to a good story.

Well, Inanna: I am not really thrilled about the choice for Edward. Of course, I'm in my 50's so I may not be a good judge of younger people but the choice of Robert Pattinson was NOT my first choice. There's nothing sultry or charismatic about him but then, we all have our own interpretations in our heads of what someone looks like when we read the trilogy, didn't we? I visualized Edward being so enticing that I was ready to bop Bella in the bean and take her place. Robert Pattinson doesn't even come close to my fantasy, nor would I want him to appear in my bedroom any time soon.
Now, the casting of Rhett Butler... I never thought of that. He was the obvious choice to be sure because the woman who played Scarlett (I don't remember her name, sorry) was a first rate bitch. Good combination, true?

Them's my two cents.

actually i loved Eclipse it was a great sequel to New Moon...i Just dont know why you hate Jacob...if he was the one who helped Bella surpass her depression in New Moon..I personally love Jacob..even almost as much as i love Edward..almost...nevertheless i found eclipse to be very interesting and captivating as well

Somehow, I think Bella could have overcome her sadness without Jacob. It just would have taken more time. But even with Jacob she never would have completely gotten over Edward. She said herself that she never could have loved Jacob the way she loves Edward.

I really liked Eclipse. The only thing I was annoyed with was Jacob. Not so much because I don't like him, because I do like him to a point. I don't know....I just didn't like him as much in Eclipse as New Moon.

And yeah, Bella was being kind of a brat with the whole marriage thing. I just wonder what Edward was thinking through all of that, with her reactions and such.

And I LOVE Robert Pattinson as Edward now!! I think he'll be amazing!

it was mostly jacob that made me DISLIKE this book

Bookloverv: I didn't like the turn of events in Eclipse, particularly because the bond that Bella and Edward had seems to have been sidetracked with Jacob's aggression. Edward appeared to take a back seat, Bella allowed herself to be swayed and Jacob took advantage of it all. Of course, you couldn't blame him, since he wanted Bella and she didn't exactly keep to her loyalty to Edward, even though she'll begrudgingly marry him anyway. That's another area that rubs me the wrong way. She's got a bee in her bonnet about getting married to Edward, even though she claims to love him. Of course, they're both too young to get married anyway, but she's never been forthcoming about why she says one thing and her body language says another. If the guys were smart, they'd both walk away from her, at least until she gets her act together.

Them's my two cents.
Patthekat (Edward fan, too)

P. Shields: I totally agree with you. Bella is so confused, doesn't know right from wrong, and has mixed emotions for jacob and even edward. even if she says she loves edward, i am not completely sure it that is true. cause if she did love edward, then the question of "will you marry me" is a very simple one.

AND, like you said, if guys WERE smart they should have just walked away. she is way too confusing!

Personally, I loved all three books and I LOVE Edward AND Jacob. There are times when I am not too fond of Bella-- her tantrums and her insecurities but yet expectations of Edward to allow her to have a "more than friendship" with Jacob is mindboggling. In truth, she doesn't really deserve either one of them- she treats both of them poorly and I am SO tired of her bratty antics regarding marrying Edward. You've got to be kidding me?? She should be grateful that he has indulged all of her mooning over Jacob!

I don't begrudge Jacob at all. Nothing is his fault. He's in love with her too. It happens. He was her rock when Edward went away (which INFURIATED ME!!!) and he should be expected to fight the good fight. I love his confidence and his games with both Bella and Edward- it adds to the storyline. Bella's reactions are sometimes funny and sometimes maddening. The kiss at the campsite. I wanted to smack her upside her head. She was kissing back.... please!!! And all of the "I love you's" to Jacob at the end of Eclipse..... NOT what I wanted to read at all. The only thing that was a let down for me with Eclipse is that I wanted to see at least ONE of the 'lead ups' finalized before the next book. If they were going to make love-- so be it... get married-- great, turn her into a vampire-- wonderful.... but SOMETHING!!!

SweetDucky says:
I feel that this was an amazing sequel to the second book. I definitely didn't want Bella with Jacob but she has every right to be in love with him, or at least have some seriously strong feelings for him. He was there for her when she was feeling desperately alone. Edward hurt her really badly, and I really don't feel that she would have been able to get out of it without someone's help. And he was really the only one who was really stepping up to the plate.

As far as Bella being a brat and also being so insecure, you have to think that she was left by Edward once and its really hard to let that go. but she has mostly let all of that go because she does love him so much. The thing about the marriage, her mother had told her, for her entire life that marriage at a young age was just a bad idea, and she is very young. She is making a lot of really big decisions in a very short amount of time. However at the end you find that she is very selfless, she is doing all these things for other people, allowing Alice to plan the wedding her way, having the wedding for, Renee, Charlie, Edward. She does want to get married she is just a little scared, which is normal.

Jessie Potts says:
I fell in love with Edward in Twilight but I always thought the character of Bella was a little... I don't know weak and frail. Instead of being an individual her entire identity was wrapped up in Edward and his life, it was as if her entire realm of being was only alive because of Edward.

In New Moon I really got to know Jacob and I fell hard. I have read all the posts here and expect spam on my Jacob is better then Edward comment but there you go. I wanted Bella to forget about the Cold Edward and fall for the warmth and laughter that was Jacob.

In Eclipse I felt like Bella's real personality and identity was on the verge of breaking out. Remember the scene where she ditched school, ran from Alice and hopped on Jacob's bike? It was a side of bella that was always squashed by Edward's personality and her own love before. Bella punches Jacob when he tries to kiss her, she's acting like herself and confident. When she is around Edward she rarely has her own opinion much less the confidence to go against ANYTHING Edward says or does.

Having said this I am nervous that Bella is throwing her life away for Edward. She's getting married (something she doesn't want) she's turning immortal (just because she's scared to age a few more human years) and she's getting into an Ivy league school (something she wasn't interested in)
Do you see a common thread here? Edward is pushing her to do things she doesn't want to do, because of Edward's age she is completely scared of aging and now he's giving her cars, credit cards and college applications.

BTW you should read a New Dawn by Ellen Hopkins and friends: it's a collection of thoughts about Stephenie Meyer's characters and books from young adult authors. It is truely amazing and I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

he nearly ruined the whole book for me. although all in all. it was an amazing book. just like the rest of them. but nothing can beat twilight. i just hope the next book isnt ruined with jacob in it.

Bookworm, your ending comment made me LMAO that I literally fell off my chair.. Cuz' I too would love to snatch Edward myself...If Bella gets cold feet.

Bookworm says:
She had better go through the marriage because if she postpones it because she's got cold feet, I am going to crawl into the book and smack her!

And take Edward for myself. ;-D

Would I get bombarded with screaming Edward Fangirls if I said that I hope Bella blows off Edward, doesn't become immortal, gets with Jacob and lives a great long mortal life with her best friend... WHO SHE CAN ACTUALLY BE HER TRUE SELF AROUND??

Thank you! Someone agrees with me! Now Normally I am for turning into a vampire I really like paranormal characters... Hence my love of Jacob. Jacob is just so warm and real, Edward is a marble statue I wish Bella would wake up, or have Jacob kidnap her...
