One good vampire and violent - That's "Blade" with Wesley Snipes. Haven't seen the sequels.

If you're old enough, you should remember fondly the vampire spoof "The fearless vampire killers" by Roman Polanski, in which he played with his soon-to-be-murdered wife Sharon Tate. The first half hour is slow, but the rest is very funny.

And no good vampires in this UK TV series titled "Ultraviolet" - 6 episodes only, but marvelous, a kind of British version 'X-Files meets vampires'.

I forgot about the movie I found in On Demand the other day. It's called The Forsaken. Kinda B'sh but it was still good.

i loved My Best Friend is a Vampire... probably one of my favorites from the 80s. There is another everyone has missed called "Vampire Kiss" which starred an extremely young Nicholas Cage. . There is also "Vampire Diaries" and "The Thirst"... there is another that is totally escaping me at the moment. (I work at a video store at night, so I'm perpetually in the horror section trying to find something I haven't seen)

I just thought of it.... there was a Fox miniseries YEARS ago (and I'm talking like early 90s because I remember I was close to graduating when it aired)... but it was called Blood Ties... and it had Jason London in it.... the vampires were pretty much the good guys... they were "Carpatian Americans" and were trying to deal with life in LA..... I absolutely loved it.... I might even have it still on vhs around here somewhere....

"Let the Right One In" might have some delay in DVD release, as it is just being theatrically released in the UK. A number of reputable UK movie critics are going ga-ga over it (I haven't seen it, but when they agree that if you see one teen vampire film, it should be LTROI rather than "Twilight," it has to be a darn sight better!).

Also nearly impossible to find (my copy came from a patient wait on eBay) is a Canadian film, "Blood and Donuts." Sweet and a little sad, and the vampire is the definite good guy in it.

There was a fairly interesting film released in 1961 titled "Blood and Roses"
based on Sheridan La Fanu's "Carmilla"

Canada's "Blood and Donuts"...nearly impossible to find. Keeps it close to the true vampire canon of their powers and weaknesses.

This is a pretty good one. Spawned a sequel, too.
