I tried to find out online but had no luck. Would like to give it as a gift but the parents want to know the rating.

I don't think that Minecraft has an ESRB rating yet. If it were to have one I would imagine it would be rated E10. Some very mild violence and maybe some lightly scary elements but certainly suitable for most people.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I tried to tell them it was very mild but they base their purchases on the ratings.

I imagine it should get one pretty soon; at least, the version coming out for the 360 should.

Show them a few Youtube videos. The worst you see a sword being swung against a zombie, skeleton, spider, creeper, or Enderman which it will turn red for a brief second and bounce back slightly.

I've seen NES titles with more violence in them.

Terraria has scarier monsters than Minecraft.

I hadn't thought of youtube videos. That's a good idea. Thanks.
