Lol not preorder layaway... it's Wal-Mart's way of making extra cash off of launch...

I also did preorder online when it was available. Since I work at Wal-Mart I get 10% off so that forced bundle wasn't too bad to me. I "preordered" in store so I can have it for launch day. I'll just return the online one when it come in.

Oh as for pickup/payoff date. If you pick up the system before you pay it off you forfeit the $5 layaway fee.

Items on Layaway:
2 WII U HDWR
Down Payment Paid: $75.59
Payment Made: $0.00
Balance Due: $680.32

Wow, that's not that far from me. I went to the Walmart in Streamwood.

How did you get five?

Considering I work here and did get 10% off I'll go with... yo... me! Did you used to work at Circuit City too? That's how it was there... I'm guessing maybe Best Buy is the same or whatever. Wal-Mart gives a flat 10% off to almost everything other then food. Where Circuit City actually gave better discounts on tvs and stuff like that, but very little on software. It was dependent on item bought. So dunno where you work, but I've got no need to lie to people on a random board. Serves me none. Now if this was like a bid site for consumers then sure I'd say I get 20% off can you beat that and I'll give you my business instead XP

I haven't followed on ebay at all, but the price they're listed at now isn't necessarily what they'll sell for come late November. I'll be watching the listings when the system is finally launched, I just don't get the sense that there's the degree of hype for the WiiU that there was for the Wii, 360 or PS3.

Before eBay got rid of most of the listings they were going for 7-800...the demand will only get greater closer to release...the hype might not be as crazy note last Gen but it's still to the point that people will pay almost triple to get it on release

Whoever started this thread is awesome! I was a little late preordering my Wii U console, but was still in time to get the Basic White version. The only problem was, I really wanted the Deluxe addition. After reading this thread, I went over to Walmart, and sure enough, I now have a lay-a-way for a Deluxe version of the Wii U. I'm stoked.

Just reserved mines. I wanted to go last night but found like others on this thread that you can not do it at midnight. So I decided to try after work. For some reason I was certain the Wal Mart I planned on going to would still have some available so I wasn't too nervous. It took about 50 minutes due to some incompetent employees but thanks to one fantastic woman (and by fantastic, I mean the only one who had an ounce of idea what the Wii U is) I was able to eventually reserve mines with a minimum of $42.

Be forewarned, there are some employee's who really have no clue about this and might steer you in the wrong direction. I was advised to ask the electronics department because the fantastic woman mentioned before could not find the paper for the barcode and they flat out told me they weren't doing any reservations at that particular store. So I stuck around since at least one employee was 100% certain they were and we eventually got it all sorted out. Fortunately, I was the first person of the day (at 6 PM) to reserve one so if you can't do it today don't be afraid.

I can't comment on how many Wii U's I could have possibly gotten since I'm just a gamer. Nothing more. So I just reserved one.

Good luck to everyone else.

If you don't have a walmart near you there doing online pre orders again http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nintendo-Wii-U-Solution-Bundle-w-Customer-Choice-of-Wii-U-Game-and-Controller/21803986

They are doing preorders again online, but only for the Basic version. If you want the Deluxe version, you will have to go to a Walmart and do lay-a-way.

Pretty much my case as well except I didn't get either. I was very foolish and waited way too long to pre-order one back when they were first announced, but I went today and got one.
Thank you Jason!

Pikmin 3

ZombiU

The Wonderful 101

Lego City Undercover

Scribblenauts Unlimited

Rayman Legends (I'm not actually a big fan of this series but the VGF loves it. )

Tank! Tank! Tank!

At least consider Ninjas Gaiden 3 as this is very different from the other versions.
