I'd say Xenogears.

On PSN. It's well worth the money. Plus being able to play it on the go is even better.

Everything I've ever bought on Steam?

What's a Xenogears and why haven't I ever played it?

I'd say about half my current generation games cost me less than $10 each. Across all three home consoles, I probably own 170 games. There are benefits to starting late in a console generation's life cycle.

Actually, I do. Go ahead. ^_^

One of the best PSOne JRPGs.

Comparable to FF7 and 8?

It came out in like 1997 or 1998 I think. Its a Squaresoft game and was kinda overshadowed by FFVII and FFVIII. The graphics are kinda cruddy even by PS1 standards, but the music, characters, gameplay and story are all great. Its actually is a lot better to play on the smaller screen of a PSP or Vita with headphones than it was to play on the PS1 (or PS3 now).

If you need a JRPG fix, this is one game you NEED!

Kind of, the battle system is quite a bit different, and the characters are 2D sprites and the 3D backgrounds are rotatable.

You also get to fight in giant mechs.

It's probably my second favorite JRPG of all time.

I keep hearing this one and Enslaved are both sleeper hits.

If my backlog ever gets under control, I may just bite on this one.

Enslaved is a lot better, but both are worth playing.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into it when I finish Growlanser: WoT.

I've tried to play Xenogears like three times and I never get very far. I don't like the battle system - it seems too simple. The farthest I've gotten was in the desert somewhere on a sinking ship? ...What am I missing? Why isn't it clicking with me? I mean... I didn't even dislike ff1 and THAT'S a simple battle sytem...

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 8, 2013 7:52:11 AM PST
I too have Growlanser:WoT.

It's part of my evil backlog....just sitting on my shelf sealed up.

You must be missing something, Xenogears' battle system is awesome.

Instead of normal attacks you get to build combos, what's cooler than that?

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 8, 2013 7:53:16 AM PST
One of my favorite JRPGs I think. The objective based battles are awesome.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 8, 2013 7:53:34 AM PST
Have you unlocked additional combos or upgraded your mechs parts? I mean the game is gonna be easy if you grind enough, but still, the storyline should help keep you interest. If you can't get into the story, then I would just leave the game alone.

I got Madworld and Sin & Punishment 2 at Best buy for $5 each. S&P2 is one of the best rail shooters ever made, and Madworld is really fun for a few hours.
