It's the times when you don't hear anything that should be more worrying, not to say this shouldn't be, but this means the school is on lookout, and won't be blindsided.

It's definitely a kid, Daft. Don't worry. They don't understand these tragedies the way adults do and they call in these threats knowing that it will close school. If they understood how much it tortured the parents, I think they would be very surprised.

i agree did your wife go down to the school?

Daft, I hope everything turns out alright for your daughter and the other kids. I'm throwing some prayers your way. When your daughter gets through this (and I think she will) be sure to give her a big hug.

She's on the way there as we speak. Either way, both girls are getting taken home so their holiday will start early. I felt really bad about the tragedy in CT, but just the possibility of it happening to me is about to cause me to just freeze up.

There was a kid who was very surprised in my High School that when he was caught it was an immediate expulsion.

I don't know if they charged him with anything since I never actually saw him after that.

Hope all is well Daft. Your family is in my prayers.

We do not need another tragedy in America so soon. Not there and not anywhere.

Living in a pretty small town in Utah, so I got to hear the sirens going off down the road to my little sisters middle school. Apparently someone was going to cause some damage but they caught him, they went on lockdown and last I checked are making sweeps in the school. No one has been hurt, thankfully. Sheesh.

You know, I priced out those school security checkpoints the other day and the total comes to roughly 3 billion/year. The current military budget is 684 billion/year so we can take it from there as we scale back our wars overseas. We can't have the entire nation paralyzed with fear for their kids. Besides, it will give former soldiers a nice state job when they come back. I sent the proposal to my Senator and I hope they at least consider it.

At first, I didnt like the idea of armed guards at school. Though, now that I ve thought more about it, I like this idea.

They couldn't locate anything at the school, but are keeping everything locked down for the time being. Wife is trying to get both girls out.

Punk! says:
How about war vets, who sometimes have a hard time finding work, as armed guards in the school, paid for by a tax on certain guns?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 21, 2012 9:15:50 AM PST
FOGE says:
Yeah, I thought war vets was the best part of his idea since they are used to handling assault weapons.

I dont know about that tax. We have enough taxes. Lets cut some defense spending, and use that.

Sounds legit, Punk. A lot of former military end up getting jobs in security anyway. The pay wouldn't be amazing (it's a state job, after all) but they'd get good benes and the would come pre-trained in small arms and fitting ballistic armor.
