Oh and to make it on topic...yes that is GLaDOS's voice.

I thought you mech nerds would at least be talking about this movie

Gotta say it, bro: that movie looks pretty cheesy.

I thought it was Evangelion. Anyway, do any big spoilers get shown here or is it safe to watch?

Kin-foot says:
It's a movie trailer. I guess you could say there are spoilers but it would be pretty hard to avoid them if you watch any future TV.

That. Looks. Terrible. But Idris Elba and the guy that plays Jacks on Son of Anarchy are in it so I'll probably Redbox it when the DVD releases.

Horrible acting and dialogue, the computer voice sounds like GLaDOS, but Ron Perlman is in it and it does look fun.

Oh well. I thought it looked fun. Del Toro is one of my favorite directors anyways. I'm glad he passed on The Hobbit for this.

Kin-foot says:
It IS the voice of GLaDOS. Same voice actress.

I looked it up. That's not Ellen McLain. I was disappoint.

But I need to see this movie crazy bad.

Link? I checked her IMDB before stepping in here and she's not got Pacific Rim listed.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 13, 2012 6:34:31 AM PST
First of all, unless IMDB is wrong, that is not her.

Secondly, GLaDOS is specifically a Valve creation. Ellen McClain does not own the rights to the way GLaDOS sounds, so the voice in this movie should not sound like that.

Kin-foot says:
Just google it. Try any gaming site. Try Forbes! Even Wikipedia says it's Ellen McLain.

Your google-fu is very weak.

Yeah, but I used IMDB and they pretty much list this crap before it ever happens.

Just watched it. I wants it, Del Toro.

Ellen McLain, opera singer and the voice of GLaDOS in Portal and Portal 2, was announced as part of the cast a while back, with del Toro mentioning that "GLaDOS" was playing one of the robot suit's artificial intelligence systems. It felt like a nice nod to one of the most memorable video game voice performances of recent years - like putting Lou Ferrigno in a hulk movie.

Ron Pearlman? You're getting your members of Sam Crow mixed up. Charlie Hunnam is in this. He plays Jacks on SoA.

Today I learned Portal and Pacific Rim take place in the same universe. Only Aperture Science would fund such silly creations.

This movie looks like a lot of fun. Looking forward to ti.

How cool would it be if Atlas and P-body showed up?!

Fair enough. I concede.

I just assumed WB had talked to Valve about including this "cameo". Valve seems like the kind of company that would happily allow for the fan-service.

The fact that the mechs actually have a rocket punch is amazing. I nearly fell out of my chair.

Ron Perlman is on the IMDB page for this. IMDB is certainly fallible (see above), but it is possible they are both in it.
